Uni Invasion - Planning and Execution
We really need to start planning and coordinating with the Drones the invasion of Uni.
I want the Drones to empty and seal off Longreach, as well as scout out the nearby fungus for Probes.
Then, I want us to occupy it with our drop troops, take it and hold it, to be ready to take half of the rest of Uni the following turn.
I hope we can take roughly the southern half of Uni with the Drones taking the northern half.
The Drones will get the turn soon and then will have only 48 hours to plan and do the attack before they must post it.
We will then have only 48 hours.
We need to work out the details.
Let's get moving. Now.

Agreed... you know, a joint chat with the Drones might not be a bad idea. Ideally, have our military leader(s) meet their military leader(s) in chat and those people hash out a joint plan.
After that, those people need to stay in close contact.
Doesn't really matter what chat method is being used, they just need to be able to talk.

The Drone's turn is played by buster basically, so I'm not sure how much the chat can get for us. It may be better to directly contact buster.

My only concern now is that Drones and us are planning to strike the next turn, not this one. We could declare vendentta, but if we are not ready for Uni war, I wouldn't want to do it because it will give them a better chance to counter strike. Please be sure to check with buster on this.

I won't have time to check that tonight. But I'd say that post in the embassy should be sufficient. The most you could PM buster with a brief line saying that there are some Hive opinions posted in the embassy that we hope he'd check before he plays his turn.

Then our turnplayer and mil advisor should be chatting with buster.
Use ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, IRC, whatever.... but the turnplayers should probably be talking to each other. PMs and e-mails better for laying out long and detailed plans and arguments, but just chatting with them would be better for coordinating stuff on the fly (if necessary). You can also cover a lot of ground quickly that it might take days of e-mailing back and forth to cover.

Mead, please read Kody's edited post before your post. He has edited it to answer your later post. I'm thinking the same thing as Kody. I do not feel that your plan has enough details for buster if you really want him to go with you.

Arnelos, I don't know what a chat will accomplish for us. Butster has very detailed plan posted in the embassy. We really need to have a plan if we want to change his plan. Otherwise chatting will not get us any closer.

Ok, as long as buster and you guys are on the same page, that's all that matters.

The problem seems to me is that we are not on the same page. Mead wants to attack this turn. buster's plan is to attack the next turn. I feel persuded by buster, that it is not mature yet to strike this turn. Unless I see a detailed plan about how we will be able to hold the counter attack off, especially from their probes, I do not recommend we go in with a hurry.
The next turn the most important issue is to get PEACE saved. For I do not think their only base can hold any longer.
The one reason we might want to attack uni earlier than 2159 Drone turn is that Uni may get MMI on 2160. IIRC they are due to get MMI 2161. (Need 839, have 253 on 2158, per turn 250.) I think they are already running like 80% on research but I'm not sure if they can do even better like running 100% reseach and get MMI 2160. What I think is if we don't attack uni our turn 2159 they will not change their SE allocation. And the next turn we may be able to use our probe to deter their research rate so that they will not be able to finish it on 2160. By 2161 most of their bases will be eradicated and they will not be able to finish MMI.

I just checked our turn. We have 1 skyhawk (penetrator) 3 Apache (chopper) 2 drop plasma garrison at Freedman. It is enough for the "advanced party" according to buster's plan. However it is far from sufficient for us to start strike this turn. We will not be able to hold Longreach, especially since we don't even have one probe ready.

To the best of my knowledge the plan to invade University territory has been initiated by the Free Drones. We, the Hive, contribute strong military forces, but have not taken significant part in composing the actual battleplans. Hence, I regard Foreman buster as the military authority in this mission.
We should refrain from working against the plans of our allies and in this particular situation we should pay close attention to following the plans already presented by the Free Drones. In the event that we need to conduct an early strike during M.Y. 2159, we need the approval and consent of Foreman buster first!
Personally, I am reluctant to authorize an early strike.
