retirement announced
will much regret i do hereby announce my retirement from civ 2 ...
i will finish the current games i in , but i can not find the time to start any new ones.
civ 3 is now taking up more and more of my time and i find i enjoy it a lot more .. i know this is heretical to most here.
so farewell my lovelies, you made playing a computer game more than just a pasttime, you made it more than fun.
many of you i regard as friends and the others i still respect anyway.
have fun all, maybe one day i will see you in a civ3 game ...

I second you on that Raz. Though I wasn't as self-agrandizing as you to start a thread over it. :P

Self-agrandizing perhaps (whatever that means ) but is he in the minority or the majority? The Civ2 Forums seem slower and slower, and it doesn't seem the Civ3 Forums have been hurt at all by the release of Conquests. Perhaps the problems with earlier versions have been solved?
I have held off buying Civ3 because I have heard so many negatives, but it seems that the tide may be turning...so which is it?
- Ming's stubborness is right, the original Civ3 is flawed, and only by putting it on the shelf and replacing it with Civ4 will the true switch be made
- Ras and Ozzy have realized what we all will eventually, that by playing both games, that Civ2 just isn't what it once was, and the switch to Civ3 is in order
What say you all? Will the game we all love die it's slow agonizing death (and perhaps already has ) or will Civ3 continue to gain support of new gamers, but the hardcore amongst the Civ2 crowd will always be rahming ( poor attempt for a , but an attempt nonetheless ) around, looking for more Civ2 MPers.

yes as i said i will finish any gam,es in currently in, which is HOTW4 and a democratic game .
after that apart from maybe an occasional sub if people get real desperate, i wont be back.
social life is already restircted and GF said i had to give up something so unfortuantly civ2 goes and civ 3 remains ....

Well unlike Raz, I'll be leaving not because I'm enraptured by Civ3 (eh, its not bad), but because after so many friggin years of playing Civ2, I'm just bored. Diplogaming is a welcome variation on the standard game, but even that isn't enough to breath life into this old, played out game.
Though gimmie a year, I'll probably be back.

Or maybe forever. Who knows.

See you around Rasputin, and thanks for all the fish!
For some weird technical reason I can rarely log into Apolyton now. Which is a shame, but things move on...My Civ2 playing is mostly aimed at scenarios now. For the rest there´s Freeciv, one step at a time.

give me civ4, although i have little hope for it. There are fundamental flaws with civ3 that they won't fix because they don't think they are flaws thus, i'll never be a fan...
anyway, so long ras
