Actually I can't take credit (blame?) for many since I don't recognise many of the posters that voted for Civ2 after the advertisement. Remember that before any shenanigans started Civ2 was way out in front.

CtP was 1st before my last update.
Of course, there was a big gap between updates so your point may be valid.

Correct me if I am wrong but I remember Civ2 leading early on. CTP only took over after the advertising started.
Also I was suggesting that, since I don't recognise many people that have voted for Civ2 in the last few votes, things might have just returned to normal now that the CTP lot have run out of voters to coerce. I don't think you can attribute Civ2's bounceback to my advertising, as you posted.

It doesn't matter, regardless. Advertising in other forums is not only allowed, but encouraged.

I thought Thief 2 was a much better game and refined the formula from 1 so greatly that it warrants superior ranking.

Mr. Nice Avatar..I mean Mr. Skanky Burns....
Just curious..are most of these "Top" games Fantasy/Role Playing...versus the the TBS genre of CTP/CIV1/2/3 or RTS like AOE or even RON & C&C?
Just curious is all my friend

Currently the top 6 games are TBS, with 7 of the top 10 also being TBS. There are two RPG games in the top 10 and GTA: VC which is a cross-genre game.
TBS feature significantly at the top end of the poll at this current point in time.

Makes sense, after all, Apolyton is based upon, for the most part, TBS..
Although, admittedly, I have no idea what Off Topic Forum is based on...somewhere between dilluisional behavior ( in ones mind, not necessarily in real world) wanna-B dictator types, those that didnt get enuff attention/discipline growing up, and a hodge-podge of otherwise fairly normal people with antagonistical tendencies....
THAT would make a neat game...
APOLYTON OT:The Expansion Pack
Object of Game....?
Post threads....logical or not...and try to get reasonable responses....
Bonus round if no one spams with homosexual posts, anti-religious posts or American bashing...
Of course..this would have to be under "Fantasy-Role Playing" because in the real world, wouldnt be possible
Peace

I haven't really played that many different games yet over the course of my life - I sticked to a limited few. That being said:
1> SMAC(X)
2> Civ2
3> Civ1
4> Wing Commander II
5> Starcraft
6> Warcraft
7> Imperium Galactica
8> Keen Commander
9> Europa Universalis 2
10> Age of Kings
I've gotten two other games recently though, so this ranking may change soon.

It's very hard to limit it to ten, and it's even harder to rank the games. Here's one try:
1. Alpha Centauri
2. Fallout 2
3. Fallout
4. Baldur's Gate II
5. Planescape: Torment
6. Baldur's Gate
7. Master Of Magic
8. Transport Tycoon Deluxe
9. Freespace 2
10. SkiJunkie's Blood Bowl Java Server/Client

1. Alpha Centauri
2. Civ 3
3. CIV 2
4. Age of Empires 2
5. Colonization
6. Diablo II
7. Rock Raiders
8. Europa Universalis II
9. Lego racers II (for my 9 year old)
10. Age of Mythology

Reading through this... Skanky, when you said Exile back on... *checks notes* page 5, were you talking the game Exile by Spiderweb Software? The RPG? Anyways, top games for me...
SMAX
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
(Sid Meier's) Pirates (The original, and soon to be new, probably)
Galactic Civilizations
Fallout and Fallout 2 (Yes, even though I don't own them)
Battlefield Vietnam
Battlefield 1942
Blades of Exile
SOF(Soldier of Fortune) II
Need For Speed, most all of them
RoN
Space Empires IV
Escape Velocity series.... (Yes, I know most of these are mac games... EV Nova has been ported though...)
Deus Ex

My list --
1. Civilization II
2. Lords of Magic
3. Heroes of Might & Magic 2
4. Strategic Conquest
5. Fantasy General
6. Master of Orion 2
7. Panzer General
8. Wizardry
9. Dungeon Revealed (aka Dungeon of Doom)
10. Axis & Allies
Problem is, I’m not done gaming yet -- I have HMM3 (and access to HMM4) as well as SMAC, but haven’t tried them yet -- maybe due to some of those listed above.

Perhaps surprisingly, I agree. While it is a fun game to play occasionally it is not a great game.
Still, I must admit I wanted to vote it in just to spite certain posters...

The very same. I see by your votes that you agree.
Someone else voted for Exile which reminded me of what a great game it is.
