Here is something to think about while you wait:
What happened to this nice feature? I did a search on it (exact phrase), but strange enough didn't find anything useful .
Anyone knows what happened with it?

If search was working you would have turned up many threads on this topic. I guess in this case you can be excused.
The quotes were never put back after some changes IIRC. Maybe they'll make a return, maybe not. Good riddance I say.

This discussion took place between Dec. 9 and Jan. 29 but IIRC no participation from the Poly Gods to indicate the ultimate outcome -- probably because most posters were pleased to see it gone...
HERE's the thread...

Thanks for the link.
So looks like, they are still thinking what they shall give us to think about.
Mark said he noted it down, but maybe this note has been deleted by one of Solvers actions as well

I think they'll probably go after issues like Search and My Threads before apochrypha like the Quotes database.

One would hope JR is correct. So many things to fix.
The page seems to have no function other than to hold the place while the post gets processed. Is it even necessary?? And don't click the hurry up link; it seems to delay things even longer.
We can pray that C. Gardner would say about this, "All will be well in the Spring."

It's tragic. There must be a few lines of "Star Trek" dialogue that I've still not read.

The white background inspires us to think for ourselves, instead of reading canned quotations

The civ-related quotes that came up sometimes were good. Probably because they were neither Star Trek quotes nor slabs of text from random books that were neither interesting or funny.

The star trek quotes are lame indeed, but overall I kinda like the quotes.

bah! Star Trek has many good quotes. Just because it is star trek you automatically think it's bad.

Methinks the opposite, if every post showed you a naked woman to think about you'd post as often as you could.

Unless you were otherwise inclined, of course. Perhaps it could be a setting in the control panel. "Sexual preference".

Don't get me wrong, I like watching Star Trek every so often.
The problem is the ST quotes are both overdone and highly inappropriate to a Civ site. Civ games end when you get to space, after all.

SMAC started in space.
Ok, it's technically not "civ", but it did share some of civ2's bugs at the start, so it must count.

It counts, sure, but doesn't exactly help me prove my point. Which is the major reason I didn't mention it.

Yep, Doc you're right and to follow up, there's been several "add quotes" threads.

Perhaps someone (Doc? ) should start another competition.
Next will be on April 21
