Planescape is connected to all the worlds there are.
Its a "nexus" a place between worlds. It is CLOSELY connected with the FR though, and there's a lot of traffic between them.

Yeah... and it's where all the gods live, right?
See - this is why D&D is so cool. I don't play pen and paper, but I love reading the books just 'cause it's an amazing world that's been created for it.

Kind of, Oswald...
Its more that "Gods" and "Demons" are just another kind of creature when you get outside a material world such as ours, or the FR world.

Yes, they are connected. In a way, the Forgotten Realms are a subset of the Planescape settting. That said, Planescape: torment and BG2 had very different settings. The action in Planescape: Torment took place, for the most part, in a city called Sigil. It was way cooler than BG2. For one, it was 100% elf free. Unfortunately, it didn't sell very well.

Plus, the plot was perfect for a prequel.

The plot contains its own prequel.
I think the setting would be great for another game - but nothing to do with TNO - no sequel or prequel.

They used to call it the Astral Plane.

I assumed planescape encompassed the entire planar worlds and not just the 'nexus' plane, that I forget the name of.

Sigil.
Planescape is the whole set of the planes - but the PS:T game is mostly set in Sigil.

Oh, okay. So Sigil was called the Astral Plane.

Nono... Sigil is seperate. Its like a bubble floating on the planes. In 2nd edition D&D the Astral Plane still exists, its kind of a projection of the material world into another dimension (Far too much time reading sourcebooks as a teenager)
What was a REALLY cool 1st Edtion sourcebook was "Hollow Earth" Wow!

No no. The Astral Plane links all the Outer Planes with the Prime Material Plane and the Ethereal Plane. The Ethereal Plane links the Prime Material Plane with the Inner Planes.

Yes yes. You are right - It links the Outer Planes with the Material Planes (the real worlds) - but I am right too, in that the nature of the Astral Plane is like ghostly projections of the Planes it touches.
Sigil has connections to everywhere though. Perhaps to every single Plane.

Is this just like the tube station game but with planes?
If so I think you'll find the outer plane is countered by my use of the ethereal plane. I'm just hoping you don't use the Astral plane gambit.

Well, Sigils IS like an interesting place. That's why PS:T is such a good book.
The structures of the planes are pretty odd to describe...
Imagine a soup - the Etheral Plane
Now there's meat floating in the soup - the Prime Material Planes, like Earth, or the FR, or Greyhawk.
Now imagine that the meat juices in the soup, while being the same form as the bowl, also indicate the location and form of the meat chunks. - The Astral Plane.
Then imagine that each type of protein in the meat chunks has its own home, on a crouton - the Elemental Planes and the Planes belonging to certain alignments.
Now also imagine the bacteria that live in this soup have gods and demons, and they are in control of air bubbles - The Celestial and Abyssal Planes.
Now Sigil is like a "magic spoon" that contacts everything in the soupbowl at once.
Get it?

I'm not sure if I should be proud or not
I thought my soup-metaphor would help explain... perhaps I should have tried to draw a diagramm instead.
