Pick a Russian newspaper .

For example, like "Komersant" owned by Putin's number 1 enemy - Berezovsky?

Of course... they never left. They have their underground bases in order to lull the West in a false security.

It seems you have no idea what slight exaggertion means.
Example:
a) USA is dictatorship. It is a slight exaggeration.
b) USA is democracy. It is a big exaggeration.

Ah, I see, in Russia when someone speaks out against the government he is declared insane and put away... in countries with free speech, we don't work that way... but you'd know nothing about that, would you? Poor dear.

tgdtsssss...
I think there is little doubt that Russia is going more authoritarian. My doubts are in the economical nature of the new regime. For me, it seems that the government is slowly encroaching on bussiness, not the other way around, as some would suggest. The upper bureaucracy has a very strong momentum going, still from soviet times. But the faces are new, and are sleek, and efficient. I wonder what would be the result of it all.

Serb, no one outside of Russia thinks that it is a democratic country. Wouldn't you think it's a sign of how efficient Putin's dictatorship is, that you believe he's a democratic leader?

Well, when I hear such conspiracy theories about KGB's underground bases and Putin beeing cyborg "created by the hard-line Communists", I think the man who says this needs a doctor.
P.S. I doubt in US, you have such number of people who speak out against the government and blame government for almost everything.

Didn't he arrest the oligarchs? Didn't he beat those who were candidates against him?
Polls published in the West show that 50% of Russians think their country is not democratic.
And look at what he's doing to Chechnya.

No. I don't know how in USA, but in Russia, the president do not authorized to arrest anyone. Police arrest susspect here, not president. Those so-called oligarchs are f*cking bastards who made billions, BILLIONS within a couple of years. They didn't make their fortune fair, by their own hands, but pillaged Soviet economy.

The same polls, I guess, will show that more 50% of Russians consider USA is not democratic, but evil, warmongering, imperialist state.

Yeah, sure. The political power does not make alliances with the secret services in the Mafia. Putin's fight is not one of justice, it's one of an oligarch against other oligarchs.
Putin controls the Russian media. He won't tell you.

The poll was published in my local newspaper a few weeks ago in an article about the Russian campaign.
BTW, I never said Bush was much better than Putin. Open your eyes, dude. Everyone in the world knows that Putin has every media outlet by the neck and that they won't say anything against him. You wouldn't expect an ex-KGB leader to be terribly pro-democracy, wouldn't you?

Look, they are criminals who made their billions of $$$ stealing state property. They pursued in accordance with law. Any crime must be punished. I don't see any problems with that.

My eyes are open. Those eyes watch Russian TV everyday. And I perfectly know what our media tells us. Two national chanels (RTR and Channel-1) are completely pro-Putin and shows mostly pro-Putin BS.
But, God damn it, we have more than 2 tv channels. Ren-TV for example is absolutely anti-Putin and shows mostly anti-Putin BS.

So, if they can, what's so cool in them? Why democracy should be a worldwide standard for a government type?

I don't know who is the owner.
Well, if you guys want to believe in "Putin's dictatorship" and "Putin's suppression of all opposition", fine. Why should I care what you think? Your opinion will not change the fact that there is sh!tloads of opposition to Putin here. All candidats for presidency (perhaps the only exclusion is speaker of upper chamber of parliament) heavily criticized Putin during election compaign. Some of them went completely insane in their charges.

Constitutional amendment! Constitutional amendment! *cough* Ahem:

Oh, yeah! Simple and sweet, baby! And now to convince 38 state legislatures and super majorities in the Senate and House ...
