Apolyton HOF Time Again
It's that time of year again....
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...7&pagenumber=1
I will be voting for War4ever again... and I was thinking of starting the push for OzzyKP for his work on Diplo games.
Who else in the Civ II MP community should we back this time around. With a strong turnout from this forum, we should be able to get War4ever in since he is in the top three already.... but who else is next.

1. don't these stupid votes happen WAY too often?
2. It would be nice if War4 would show his face on occasion. (Hope you're well, War...)
Thought I'd throw some names out and start a discussion before voting. It was nice to see Oedo make it last time, and I recall some discussion about unifying our voting bloc in the future -- so who else in Civ2 world is deserving?
I'll be voting for SG[1] and War4. I see Solo pretty far down the list and he's contributed a lot...
Some more random names to consider...
Carolus Rex
OzzyKP
Eyesofnight
StrategiKing
Berzerker
Atawa
MyWifeHatesCIV
La Fayette
Hydey
Baron O
I'm a relative noob here so I'm sure my perspective is somewhat lacking. Let's hear from the veterans committee!

Two other names of note (not in Mings or -Jrabbits lists)....
Sampson
Slow Thinker
I suspect I will be voting for Scouse Gits (1), Solo and Sampson, but I would like to see the Civ2 section unite and vote in those that we agree are most deserving, anyone else have any better suggestions?

All good candidates... I was hoping more people would discuss this so we all could get behind a few candidates.
I'm going to go vote for:
War4ever
Scouse Gits (1)
OzzyKP

Scouse Gits(1) will definately get my vote.
I'm also considering voting for one or two of the following: samson, solo, Slowthinker, EyesOfNight, markusf. Maybe even Kaak, he seems to be really keen on getting in.
War4Ever probably not, since I don´t know that guy at all. But it very much looks like he will do it this time, anyway.
One thing I learned last time: I will wait until right before the the votes will be closed. So my vote will count twice.

Kaak and EyesOfNight are the next two on my list. I figure we can get War4ever in this time, and Scouse Gits(1) will make some serious progress to getting in.

this was a hard choice for me
i have always tried to vote for cavebear
hes so involved in the diplo area
and ive got to vote for berz.
and i usually vote for kaak too
lots of mp folks that should be in there
but i wanted to support the multiplayer choice
i think we can do more if we vote as a block.

I agree... and that's what I was hoping this thread would do... doesn't seem to have worked
There are many deserving MP people... and the trick is to vote as a block.

I voted for SG[1], War4Ever, and (can't remember...) either Solo or Samson (both of whom contributed important part to my Great Library education).

And that's why the different on topic forums mount similar efforts to this one... where certain candidates get supported.
It has been succesfull... and "real game players" have been getting added... We just have to vote more as a block.
Oh... and I would add you to the list as well
I want to see as many of the "recogonized" great players as possible in the HOF...

Yes, darn near everyone mentioned belongs in, and it's up to us to accomplish it.

Well, I dont want to seem like Pete Rose here, but at least he got inducted into the pro wrestling hall of fame.
But I believe my Civ record is unequaled by anybody not currently in the hall of fame. I believe I have posted more over the years then anyone other then "him" who is not in the hall of fame.
Thus it is my belief that any Civ Hall of Fame, to be considered a legitimate institution requires a King to be part of it. Otherwise, its nothing more then a fraud .
But thats just me.. Glad I got a nomination this year. Its a start...
so like G.W. Bush I am actively running for election this year! The Campaign begins TODAY!
And as Vince MacMahon says... "It all begins again!"
(Wow, a G.W. promo and 2 wrestling mentions all with a civ overture, NEAT.)

And zylka, i should get your vote..we played enough games together.
Atawa, same with you....
and even you Ming, the moderator of this very forum. Surely you can not deny THE POSITIVE influence and creativity I have supplied to not only the game but to this forum. If the hundred threads I start isnt enough, all the in game creativity that others have posted about through the years.
If this is not qualification for HOF of Civ, I dont know what is.
Is this just a popularity contest? if so it should be refered to as popularity fame. A hall a fame is for acomplishments in the civ community.
I look at the list of HOF and really they cant hold a candle to me . My winning percentage. My additions to the game... nothing...
If carelessly ommitted yet one more year , I will form the REAL CIV 2 HOF WHERE TO BE CONSIDERED YOU MUST HAVE ADDED GREATLY TO THE GAME.
I have only about 15 people on that list.

I agree on ozzy.
If you want to go by the criteria of someone who actively plays, who posts intelligently, who updated the diplo FAQ, who writes fabulous storylines in the diplo role playing games and who is pretty modest....
ozzy would get my vote if I ever get to that other thread!
WTF has War4 done? He's never around, never posts, ducks out of games... but he's a nice guy. Surely voting now in the HOF must relate to current activity? I can't be bothered reading all that stuff in the HOF thread though, so I'm probably wrong
Would rather play civ and do usefull stuff...
Other than ozzy, who is way in front in my books, I'd say, following my criteria above, Rah or Raz or Berz or possibly Markus (but he's not been around much) and even Zylka and Frank/Dang for diplo-modding posting etc.

now now...lets not beat our chests and throw mud
...............on second thought..............
that could be entertaining..
next time why don't we all send ming our choice
of favorite mp to vote for and the one with the
most nominations gets the block vote.???
we do have 3 votes in the HOF
giving one to the mp block vote is really a no brainer

StrategicKingVa.... gee, you really didn't need to create a new log on.. I can send you your old password if you've forgotten.
I would have no problem voting for you either... like eyes and some of the other great players... My current votes were based on people who already had some votes... with the intent to get them in (since there is that cumulative voting system) and then keep voting as a block to get more people in. I just don't want to see the Civ II community overlooked... since that was the game that really built this site

yeah with the cumulative effect
if we voted as a block for the same person
several voting sessions...we could get them in
i think.

We have gotten people in thanks to the cumulative votes... so it does work better if we just vote for people who already have a base of votes built up from past elections... then we pick new people and start building their totals... It works

what Ming said.
plus I didn't put you into my consideration for the same reason, I didn't put other zonies like weirdgod, jes, pinball, vlad or woke into my consideration. these are all people I like and I value. but I don't think they're polytubbies. I know them from the zone and from the gameleague. simple as that. and even being an eight times registered user alone doesn't make you an apolytoner....yet. that's what I think about it.
but it's in your hand. maybe here's a great opportunity for you to make a start becoming one. maybe then we can talk about it.
and strat....
just take it easy, RL is more more important.

Thanks for the support guys. I really do appreciate it.
I voted before checking back here to see who we were pooling our votes for. I did, rest assured, vote exclusively for Civ2-MP folks. Two great diplogamers, Deity and Rasputin, and one evil sob who just made things interesting back in the gameleague days, eyesofnight.
And don't worry Diety, I'm not going anywhere until HOTW4 finishes. Hopefully we can finally get another session in.

I agree with ming (probably first time ever , and i promise not to make a habit of it).. the number of people who actually post here are much lower than other forums , however this was the origins of this site and deserves its members to be noted in the hof.
I believe that we need to nominate one person per month to admit and utilise one of our votes to get tha tperson in . that leaves us two othr votes to keep for people we would like to vote for ourselves.
whilts we could utilise all three of our votes to pick selected people, i like the idea of voting for people i choose, it gives a personal touch to the vote and i know many people are humbled by being selected by their peers and whilst being added to the HOF is a goal that would be overwhleming, jsut ggwtting one vote from any of my peers at all is overwhelming to me.
another method to use is to see which Civ2 MPers are already on the list and keep voting for them in a priority order till they achieve entry status.
i think tha tmight be the best method.
once they all in we can do the nomination method t oming perhpas.
