UT2004 looks like the real sequel to UT. I personally think that 2003 had a very different game dynamic and that 2004 brings back (especially in Onslaught).

Too bad it'll be 30 hours before I can play . And this stupid frickin' snow in March ...

Niiiiice

Its got all that original lush MP goodness feeling that the original UT had... maybe even moreso, because you have real cooperation in MP, now, rather than opportunistic coincidences of cooperation.

Onslaught is just an incredibly good game type. Very addictive, and DE just knows how to design good levels.

Unreal Tournament 2004.

New FPS released yesterday (although a demo has been out for a while.)

Great voice integration, great vehicles and a very balanced and natural feel... plus obviously silky smooth graphics.

Minimum specs are PIII 1Ghz (or comparible AMD), 128MB RAM, 5.5GB disk space and 32 MB Windows compatible Gfx card.

(It does software rendering, but its not as pretty, obviously, and it takes a more meaty CPU.)

Realistic minimum specs would be a 1.4Mhz AMD or 1.7Mhz P4, 256MB RAM and a 128MB Geforce4 Ti4200... and up, depending on resolution and detail.

5.5 gig? jesus frederick christ!

Is the game any good baggins?

Is UT2k4 a game that will have mods? I'm a big fan of Quake 3 (and its many mods) and Counter-strike. Would I like this game do you think?

What kind of vehicles are we talking about?

In a word, yes. Its been getting somewhat rave reviews.

Here's the closing comments from the ign review

Closing Comments
Given that Epic had already reached a sweet, sweet point with the original Unreal Tournament, and some would argue with UT2003, it was fair to wonder what more they could do with the next iteration of the series. Well, it's easy to say they've delivered, and then some. A huge selection of new maps, gorgeous graphics, improved game play, and the return of Assault are generous enough. But the addition of Onslaught, with its powerful vehicles and tactical variety, makes UT2004 into a multiplayer behemoth, offering enough action, depth, and expansion possibilities (just think of the mods here, people), to justify keeping UT2004 on your hard drive for a long, long time. Has Epic provided an alternative to a glut of military-themed shooters? Hell yes they have. That, and then some.
-- David Adams

Another Take
Unreal Tournament 2004 marks a stunning and welcome comeback for the Unreal franchise. It looks great, it runs well, the new modes are awesome and the core combat is tight. The vehicles are implemented to near perfection, the bots are among the best we've seen in any multiplayer game, the single-player ladder is fun, and there's so much STUFF that you could probably play this (and nothing else) through the end of 2004. If you like multiplayer games, it's hard to imagine anyone who won't find something to like in UT 2004.

I don't know... probably. There is a demo that you can download to try it. I loved it, fwiw.

Tanks, buggies, hover vehicles, space fighters... you name it. Lots of vehicles are possible, and can have multiple crew members (with 1 driver, and a gunner, for instance.)

Have you guys lived in caves for the past ten years? You don't know one the best FPS ever to hit the market? It's in the same realm as Starcaft, Civ, the Sim City series- 'legend' games.

The vehicles are sweet. As MrBaggins explains, there is a little ground speeder, 2 classes of aircraft (4 in total; 2 per race), a big truck with 2 gunners and 1 driver position, and a tank (or is it two?).

There is something wrong with people expressing their violence in a game? Would you prefer they did it in forums or in the streets instead?

thats a hard question because theyre different genres.

even when ur talking about whether quake is more complex than UT, which is a same genre, its hard to consider them cause they take indepth gameplay in a VERY different approach. Which is why it becomes a matter of opinion.

But yeah, most people would typically consider smac more deeper than UT, and Ut would be more deeper than Q series. Which is why it sounds whack to us. To us, UT = chess. slow and boring.

Which is complete bullshit if you think about it though. After all, most people are idiots and scrubs.

(PS i dont hate UT and I dont hate chess BTW just talking like a typical hardcore Quake player)

(PPS Yeah Quake is complex. OMG. So shocking! yeah you can actually write a thick book out of strats and indepth **** devoted to quake.)

WTF is it with you people?

Its not like you can only run one game on your system.

UT2k4 is an excellent and fun FPS. That doesn't mean that its all things to all people.
