Report for 21st of March 2004
Jamski was completely destroyed this turn, as both Skanky Burns and Spaced Cowboy alunched nukes at him. Although he expected to survive and pass two nukes of Spaced, he had not been counting on Skanky's spy, who amnaged to insert a day off into the schedule for his deflection systems when the nukes arrived, leaving him defenceless.
Meanwhile, Hercules built the city of Varoom, and Doc and Vlad Antlerkov were working on secret projects.
Total Player Losses:
Jamski: 3 cities (WASTED)
Remaining City List:
Doc:
4 cities (Prime, Whole, Real, hot)
Spaced Cowboy:
4 cities (No, Kill, I, Jamski's Beyatch)
Skanky Burns:
4 cities (Thief, SMAC, Tibia, Morrowind)
Jamski:
WASTED
MrBaggins:
2 cities (Mecca, Jerusalem)
Vlad Antlerkov:
4 cities (Patriot Act, tax Cuts, Why Do You Hate Antlerkovistan So Much?, Objectively Pro-Evil)
Hercules:
5 cities (Gloom, Doom, Boom, Zoom, Varoom)

I used a spy on Jamski. What happened to that?

It didn't make it my orders file, for some reason; the report has been amended to take it into account.

I don't get it. If the shields were up it should be 2 losses to both Jamski and SC. If they were down then Jamski is toast.
It looks like SC received Skanky's spy on the write-up.

You're right... this has been a very confused turn. Teach me to forget parts of people's orders. Sorry Jamski.

Hmm, I'm a little confused. Looking over the earlier reports SC built a city first turn when Jamski stockpiled, then sabotaged Jamski's strike next turn. Since he built first turn how did he have a spy? It could have been someone else's spy, but not Cowboy's.
There seems lots of confusion in this game. I haven't sent orders since I can't work out who might have what. I propose we do not process the turn as normal until this has been cleared up.

On that particular issue: he built a spy that turn, and I (rightly or wrongly) allowed him to sabotage with it on the same turn. If people don't like that particular call, I will keep the reuslts in mind in future.

I can't agree that is a fair interpretation of the rule. GM's call for this game I suppose since no one had asked about it before, but we should vote on that at the end.
No matter........I'll send orders after work (I'd like to peruse what's happened) and we can get cracking again normal turn time tomorrow (well it's tomorrow for me, about 5am GMT I think Tacticus usually updates).

Actually I still have my one spy that I've trained. I used this from the first post in the rules.
"Spy missions don't count as orders: e.g. you can sabotage an enemy and nuke him in the same turn. Each player starts with one spy."
Did I interpret that incorrectly?

Well we haven't played start with 1 spy for several games, since we decided it would be more balanced to start with none. I guess GT accidentally changed it back when including my suggestions about the spy rules.
I have no idea how to fix the confusion.........I guess we'll have to stick to GT's interpretation for this game that you can build a spy and use it on the same turn, and say that SC used the spy he built on the second turn that same turn. Hence he has no spies.
Thoughts?

Doc,
It clearly (huh? did I hear a Jaguar?) states in the rules that you start with one spy.
I shouldn't be punished for not Skimsking the rules.

Hmm it does, I can't argue with that. However all these players are regulars except Baggins and know that we don't start with spies.
The other 'solution' is to just give everyone a starting spy for this game I guess, but that's just as unappealing at this stage as implementing GT's interpretation for one game.

I say we continue playing as though noone had starting spies, and for this game spies can be trained and used in the same turn.
Of course, for the next game I feel that spies should have been trained in a previous round - it doesn't make sense for them to be undergoing training and out sabotaging other players at the same time.

Actually I was mainly asking as I'm not quite sure if my orders were sent or not. I don't keep saved copies or track the pm's so I can't check up that way, and I didn't post an "order sent" either. I half-remember thinking my previous post would double as an "order sent" indication without the need to specify...
Did I mention I haven't gotten much sleep this week?
