Okay, I have orders from everyone here... however, I won't be posting the turn until we all agree on how to handle the matter in future.

It would probably be best if we disallowed spying the turn it was built. If everyone agrees then there is no reason not to change the rule mid-game.

Actually I knew I'd be a few minutes sending, and thought you'd respond. When I made the post I knew I was opening myself up to pot kettle black comments.
So I guess I'll pretend it was deliberate.

No I think there are only 2 possible solutions, since you have to be consistent within the game. Either we allow spies to be used on the turn they are built, or we give everyone an extra spy (except SC, who used his 'starting' spy). Probably the latter is slightly more attractive.
We can't just revert to the correct rules now since Jamski is already dead.

Sorry, I was killed by an illegal spy!
Blood shall flow!
Not to worry, give everyone the starting spy NOW.

You were killed by a legal spy. You were prevented from causing major damage to Spaced by an illegal spy.
Giving an extra spy is hardly fair to Jam either, as he could have used that spy to keep himself in the game longer.

If I'd know I had a starting spy, I would have spy-and-bombed Spaced in round two, eliminating him

I concur. So we restart? Or play on with either of the 'solutions' and sod Jamski? I think it's mainly up to him.

Ok so now we just need to pick between the 2 solutions. I'd say give everyone a starting spy as per the flawed rules.

I say play on properly from now on. We shouldn't all get a free spy "just because".

I vote that we play by the posted rules, regardless of who actually read them.
I admit that I thought it strange that there was a beginning spy in the rules. But I thought that we had made a change, and I only trained a spy that turn to replace the one that I was using since I did not want to be one spy down on everyone.
Anyway, my thoughts on how to proceed.

Even though they were the death of me for this reason (I skimskied them) I'm in agreement.
Abide by the written rules (which gives everyone a bonus spy)

Ok it's sorted then, and GT can process the next turn at his usual time. That way we all have chance to change orders if desired.
Actually GT has a lot to do. I don't mind taking over signup and rules maintenance if it would help.

Well signup doesn't involve a great deal, since there are only ever 8 players or so. I'm already familiar with the rules for this game.
I definitely have to cut out some of the forum games, and I want to keep up this one and gladiators so no driving.

Time to remove some more enemies of the people.
And yes, I would like my city of Morrowind back.

Report for 26th of March 2004
The Doc ceased to exist today, as all four of his cities vanished under a hail of nukes launched by Spaced Cowboy, which also apparently killed a spy sent there by Skanky Burns, though no-one would say what for.
Meanwhile, Skanky and Vlad Antlerkov were working on an unknown project, while Hercules built the city of Woom.
Total Player Losses:
Doc: 4 cites (WASTED)
Remaining City List:
Doc:
WASTED
Spaced Cowboy:
4 cities (No, Kill, I, Jamski's Beyatch)
Skanky Burns:
4 cities (Thief, SMAC, Tibia, Morrowind)
MrBaggins:
2 cities (Mecca, Jerusalem)
Vlad Antlerkov:
4 cities (Patriot Act, tax Cuts, Why Do You Hate Antlerkovistan So Much?, Objectively Pro-Evil)
Hercules:
4 cities (Gloom, Doom, Boom, Woom)

Well I took a chance on setting up a stockpile so I had a chance of winning. It's worked before......nothing in this game for being too timid.
