Maybe we can start a new game with the most active players? I´ve already lost interest.

Proposal:
Instead of having 7players in 4 teams have 3 players which own 2 factions each.. 1 player maybe can own 3 facs if the facs are bad builders
..or the 7th faction can be just eliminated..
For example:
Cosmic - Pirates(you like em, I suppose ) & Cycon
Barinthus - Uni & Believers
binTravkin - Morgan, Angels
If you accept this Im in!

I assume the same ground rules will apply to the new PBEM also? As in no combat, etc?

Yes, without them this PBEM will be no different..
And the difference I think was the thing that Cosmic wanted..
No news from Cosmic so far - whether he accepts this or not, but we can create at least setup of our 2 teams.
Maybe Chaunk is still out there waiting for decisions, but I think It'll better for this game to have 3 players.
If he dont want to participate, we will be 3 teams:
So:
As I said before, Id like to have Morgan & Angel factions.
Angel - if EG is not disabled.
Otherwise I wont be able to get the infiltration they need - as Morgan has hablimits, I suppose I wont be able to have Angels as governor.
Anyways - post your facs!
Barinthus, you said, you want to try Believers, so your team is:
Believers & some researcher fac to counter Believer --RESEARCH, best - Uni, but better leave Uni to Cosmic, otherwise he has no popboom-able faction
But its up to you..
Cosmic likes Pirates, so his team:
Pirates & whatever.. I suppose Uni, PKs should be good! PKs because then you will be able to be governor - as here in this thread!

Believers are fine with me. If Cosmic wants Uni and since I'm already playing PKs in some other PBEM, I'll take CyCon.

Why Strong erosion?
Weak is much better for builders - it provides minerals
Other are good, only maybe huge map..
We are not going to fight each other anyway..
We will need a CMN to balance us, put teams close & eliminate the 7th fac, so we better start searching for one!

We also need a new thread and a new name for the game, any suggestions?
I´ll think something, maybe Rubin can help us again?

I kind of prefer same rules and everything like this thread. It'd be nice to play without having to worry about being attacked, etc.
But if you want to change rules, that's ok. I'll still play .
So I guess it's Believers and CyCon for me.
We should ask Rubin to help out.

No, rules wont change, only map settings, I dont remember what settings did we have, but If asked Id go for
huge map
max rain
weak erosion
rare lifeforms
30-50% ocean (1/3-1/2 will be enough for Pirates!)
Those are best for builders!
But lets vote for them to make it even!
Map:
Cosmic: Large
binTravkin: Huge
Barinthus: ?
Rain
Cosmic: ?
binTravkin: max
Barinthus: ?
erosion
Cosmic: strong
binTravkin: weak
Barinthus: ?
lifeforms:
Cosmic: rare
binTravkin: rare
Barinthus: ?
ocean:
Cosmic: ?
binTravkin: 30-50%
Barinthus: ?
Other settings should not be changed!

I think Rubin is currently having computer difficulties. FYI.
If you like, I could set this up for you. I've not CMNed before, so if you'd like to wait for a more experienced person, then please just say so (I won't be offended!) but I'm willing to do it if you want.

I think, Id be good first expierence to you Chaunk
See if you can do things listed below.
Things to do:
1.Balance start positions, make team factions close (10-20 squares)
2.Give commlinks to team factions
3.Make team treatied, pacted & set "current relations permanent"
4.Give starting tech
5.Set scenario rules
6.Eliminate 1 faction
7.Set turn order according to teams (facs together) & GMT, so players create a chain over world..
My GMT is +2
Cosmics' - 3
Barinthus' : -8
So I receive the turn first, play, send, Cosmic receives, plays, sends etc.
My turn sending time is 9:00 - 10:00 GMT+2
My turn receiving time is 9:00 - 19:00 GMT +2
both - except weekends
So I send at 9:00 - 10:00 mytime
Cosmic receives at 5:00 - 6:00 histime
wakes up at 8 (dunno right time ), plays, sends
Barinthus receives at say 4:00 his time, sends at 9 histime
I receive at 19 mytime, go home play, send on next morning (ISP at home - at total shutdown!)
For players:
Any suggestions?
Not the right time scheme for you?
Propose different!
Hint on balancing - in case you place 1 fac at good site & cant find good site for other fac close enough, feel free to add a monolith or two - theyre balanced & not permanent resources, therefore theyre the best to balance the starting position

Rain: MAX
Ocean: 50%-70%
Turn order is fine with me, I agree with everything Travkin said, I also would like to let Chaunk set up the map for us!

Looking through the previous thread, Barinthus said "Bigger the map, the better", so I'll make the map huge unless I hear otherwise soon,
The map will probably be around 40-50% water. I'll start with 50-70% water and add as I see necessary. I also think I can make each of your factions have your prefered erosion - so weak for Cosmic, strong for binTravkin, and (atm) average for Barinthus. Native life will be rare, rainfall max.
Will start work on this shortly. Do you guys want the EG disabled? With no probing, as per the previous game, theres no infiltration except for via the EG, which makes it doubly powerful. I'm in favour of removing it, but I'll wait for confirmation.
Factions:
Angels & Morgan - binTravkin
Believers & CyCon - Barithus
Pirates & Uni - Cosmic
Let me know now if thats not right!

The map is ready pending more input from you guys as you desire.
I also need to do some play testing etc. Expect a game tomorrow evening, unless you want something completely different.

Haha, no problem with Chaunk here doing the map. I'm new at CMNing too (three PBEMs so far) so I'm all for letting others having the experience.
And you're right, Chaunk, I want a huge map. My factions are correct - believers and cycon
Map:
Cosmic: Large
binTravkin: Huge
Barinthus: Huge
Rain
Cosmic: ?
binTravkin: max
Barinthus: Avg
erosion
Cosmic: strong
binTravkin: weak
Barinthus: Avg
lifeforms:
Cosmic: rare
binTravkin: rare
Barinthus: abundant (I'm outvoted here )
ocean:
Cosmic: ?
binTravkin: 30-50%
Barinthus: 30-50%
BTW - to clarify, we cannot fight each other? Will there be a 7th faction? Is that one 'free for all'?
Are we allowed to have treaties/pacts with other factions outside of our own pacted factions? Or just truce at the best?
Are we allowed to probe each other? Or is that considered hostile action?

No it is still PIOT, no 7th faction, not allowed to probe (except infiltrate anyone & steal tech from perma-pactmate when sunspots) & allowed to have any diplomatic stance except Vendetta
EG diabled: NO! (Angels lose all their power)
It will not be used for any hostile action anyway!
And it will balance council botes as Morgan will have the least votes!

Ok, I've been taking it easy on the testing, but we're almost ready to roll. I'll add more fungus to your area Barinthus, or possibly just some more fungal towers.
Cosmic I need to know your free tech preference. Otherwise I'll go for Centauri Ecology. (I have to play the first turn to set passwords). Email (mj_blakemore AT uk2 DOT net please, or PM here.)
All. If you have a prefered password then email me before Monday (To allow binTravkin to send me his preference). Otherwise I'll asign passwords.
I think thats everything. So far it's looking good, but I'm somewhat struggling with the Pirates & balancing. It's hard to predict where they will go to...
Turn now out on Monday I think.
