I've got a virus???
I've been getting this message on the front page of Apolyton for some time now.
I've read and followed the removal instructions detailed on the link; run Spybot - Search & Destroy, searched my registry for the entries; searched my hard drive for the files; deleted all my ActiveX downloads; deleted all my temp files/cookies/offline content/history in MS Internet Explorer.
I'm still getting this message.
1. Is anyone else seeing this message on the Poly home page?
2. Is it possible to still have this adware/spyware on my system when there's no trace of it?
3. Why is this message still visible after all my efforts.
4. Is there an active feature sponsored by Poly to detect this type of adware?
5. Am I visiting to many porn sites?
Any ideas???

It's probably one of those ads. Just in case, have you tried running ad-aware or an anti-virus program (Spybot works well with others)?

I had a similar warning awhile ago when I used my girlfriend's laptop. Ran ad-aware and caught the little bugger. So, yes, it's the real deal.

Yes, I've run Spybot and removed a bunch of junk. Now I'm completely clean...but I'm still getting this message hence the purpose of this thread...

Notice joncha said he ran ad-aware, not spybot search and destroy. There's a difference.

Both are free downloads. When you suspect something then run both. You will be amazed at the differences in what they find.

The info is genuine, Markos installed parasite detection software a while ago when we were having problems with advertisers installing that kind of crap. Spybot isn't perfect, so it may not recognize something that Apolyton's software does. Just click on the link and follow the instructions to remove the parasite.
(I actually use Apolyton as a complement to both Spybota and Adaware myself )

Yes. My girlfriend already had ad-aware on her computer, and it fixed the problem. I happen to use both, btw.

No, you just aren't being paranoid enough with your browser settings.

You missed the one that said to use a decent browser from now on?

I just downloaded and ran "Ad Aware". As I mentioned previously, I have been running "Spybot Search and Destroy" for some time now...but it didn't detect a whole bunch of stuff the "Ad Aware" found. So I don't get that warning message on the home page of Apolyton now. Thanks for tips...
Nice feature running on the Poly frontpage to provide a warning! Thank you MarkG!

No, spybot just gives a warning that AdAware's deep scan of Spybot archives will trigger a false alarm.

Actually spybot claimed that adaware was a copyright infringement on Spybot. And it did delete parts of it, but not the installer.
