It depends, it can make a huge difference on the massive-pipelined P4 you chose to host the site on.

If it mis-predicts the result of that if, 20 cycles are wasted each time.

Once the usage gets higher during peak times, all of those for and if loops you indirectly just added right now will be part of the mess that locks up Apolyton during heavy use.
