The CMC needs you - Unit naming contest!
Greetings, fellow Hiverians!
Following a discussion about standardized naming of Hiverian military units, the CMC has decided to start a creativity contest.
We have a good system for defining a unit by a code, but we still lack "nicknames" for many types. If you have an idea, donīt hesitate to share it with us.
Make sure to provide the unit type you have in mind, too.
Extract from the CMC naming discussion:

Comrade Micha, the Central Military Committee acknowledges the need for a standardized hivean naming of our military units.
Upon reviewing the current naming suggestions the Central Military Committee suggests the following formula:
AB-CDE
A = Hivean signature letter, e.g. H (Hive) or V (Our Chairman, Voltaire) etc. The signature letter applies to all units.
B = Chassis description, e.g. N (Needlejet), C (Chopper), I (Infantry), etc.
C = Attack strength or defense strength where sensibly applicable.
D = Unit function signifier, e.g. A (attacker), I (Interceptor), B (Bomber), etc. Special task force units may be recognized by nickname.
E = Nickname
(Examples: HC-6B Red Apache [6-1-12 Chopper], HC-6X Adjudicator [6X-1-12 Chopper, Nerve Gas], HC-1R Kozak [1-1-12 Chopper, Reconnaissance], etc.)
The Central Military Committee shall see to it that--once ready--an updated list of named units are posted. Meanwhile, corrections and suggestions (for nicknames, etc.) are welcomed.
Comrade Rubin
Chairman of the Central Military Committee

If we should ever need a single fast, strong and advanced airdrop probe unit, the Ambassador Arnelos [0^-3-2] is open for consideration. Of course, Comrade Ambassador Arnelos has to authorize this himself.
Should the Ambassador unit somehow become MIA or KIA it must have been one of Comrade Ambassador Arnelos' deception units; a crude clone intended to confuse our enemies...

I have a few ideas:
Wasp(or any variation of that) - Wasps live in a hive society!
Voltar - In honor of the great and brilliant chairman Voltaire!
Hammer - In combination with my next idea...
Sickle - Ya! Soviet Union!
Scorpion - In honor of my own name!

Nice
Hammer and Sickle as two differents units that should be combined to work most efficiently... mhh, me likes!
Wasp is also good. Although one might think it means "protestant white anglosaxon", as my dictionary stated as primary meaning
Maybe Scorpions might be used, too, but I think more because of the animal

Any of those "social" insects could be used as names... Bee, ant, termite and wasp. But they should probaly be cheap vehicles used for mass attacks!
Scorpions are cool! Face it any of you people who doesn't think the same!
I am truly a valuable new asset for the Hive! But only as valuable as any other citizen of the Hive!
Communism rocks! Capitalism sucks!(That should really be part of our national anthem!)

I think it was in Aasimov's book "Nemesis"... a spaceship with "a haunting wasp-like grace". So how about "Nemesis"?
... Are ambassadors from the Drones eligible to participate?

I don't remember Nemesis that well.... it was a while ago... more recently some sci-fi books I liked were Ender's Game, The Light of Other Days, and A Fire Upon the Deep. I also like Arthur C. Clarke.

By all means...
Speaking of good reads, I've got an interesting idea. Perhaps we should start a Hive Book Club, each month we'd select a new book to read and then discuss (I've always wanted to be part of a book club ).

Stay on the subject!
The subject is unit naming if someone had forgotten!
Anyways i have some last resort ideas:
Annihilator
Obliterator
Mutilator
Violator
Alligator
Among the more hive-like ideas are:
Stalinist
Leninist
Cossack (Not communistic but anyways)

Thanks, Comrade Scorpi!
We already have the Kozak / Cossack unit (Scout Choppers), but thank you anyways.
Any other ideas? Comrade HongHu? Chairman? Doughnutman Comrade Octavian X?
