ISSUE
With cultural expansion we can now work the sugar tile (3ftp, 1spt, 2tpt) or continue to work the forest tile by the river (1fpt, 2spt, 1tpt).
The game default when I open up the save is to move the WF to the sugar. By doing this, we grow in 6 turns as opposed to growing in 8 turns, but we have 4spt which wastes sheilds unless we decide to build hoplites.

My opinion:
We go 2 turns at 5spt, 2fpt. Build another warrior. We then switch over to 4spt, 3fpt and build our granary.
If we change to 3fpt right now, we'll grow in 6 turns. If we switch to 3fpt 2 turns from now, we'll still grow in 6 turns as we already have 4 food in the box.

I agree with the work force distribution. Smart micromanagement is key.
Regarding building a fourth warrior or another granary...that depends. Keep in mind that if we build a fourth warrior we will have to set the slider down a notch to pay for him as we will have five units with only four supported. On the other hand we can use those two turns working on a pre-build for a granary.
Once the worker is done roading to the wines then he can set up to chop a forest. Without looking at the save I think it would take the worker 11 turns to road the two tiles, get to a forest, and chop it (3 turns to road, one to move, three to road wines, one to move to forest, four turns to chop...but completes in three). So we'd have 2 turns of 5spt toward a warrior, 4 turns of 4spt, 5 turns of 6spt (assuming working a forest with our next pop point after growth) and a forest chop for 10 which brings us up to 56 shields toward the granary. One more turn after that and the granary is complete.
So...as long as we don't mind paying for the warrior for a while by turning down science a notch then I say build the fourth warrior and then start the granary.
Oh and can someone check my calculations please? Like I said I did them in my head without being able to look at the save right now.

Another alternative is to build a second worker with those ten shields. In this case we'd have 2 turns of 5spt toward the worker; 4 turns of 3spt before growth, a chop of one forest by the second worker for ten shields, 5 turns of 4spt (allowing more rapid growth on the sugar this time), along with two more forest chops for twenty shields (assuming the second worker goes right into another chop instead of roading). This would actually get the granary out a turn sooner and before we hit pop 3 (which would be 2 turns afterward in this case).
I'd like to do some sim work with these to make sure of what I'm talking about, but I can try to do that tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully before the turn comes around twice in any case.

The 2nd worker option is not a bad idea at all. But it does give us the same unit support problems.
However, it might fix our need for mil police so early. My thoughts were that we'd have 2 dedicated exploration warriors, 1 dedicated mil police, and the forth would explore close to Apolyton when the pop was low, return when the pop was high, and escort the new settler we eventually build.

If we do build a worker then we'd be back down at size 1 for a short time and then be at size 2 for 7 turns. The third warrior could stay in the city until the wines are up and then roam around the perimeter until we get to pop 3.

Better use our pop for early settlers, given the good land we have.

I have to take off. I need to run some errands and have plans for this evening, so I will be unable to play the save tonight.
I have posted my suggested orders in the turnthread. I will leave a PM with the other Consuls asking them to handle this turn and to review the issues posted above.

I have supported a second worker from the beginning. We need to control our population while we expand to prevent waste.
Been a while since I played a game on this level, but if we do get extra pop, will it not be worth wild to turn him into a tax man instead of adjusting the lux slider and loosing on science. Just my gut speaking on this though.

Here is our Capitol, after the Culture Expanded!
Looks like we have a second wine on a hil
And here is our exploration to the east: It looks like there is two fertile river systems. Kind of like the cradle of civilization, huh?
And if someone knows how to make the pictures actually show up please feel free to edit my post.

Turn Results from 3500bc
Played in chat using posted orders at 0400 GMT on sunday march 21st with Arnelos and Aidun present.
1 Anthea the Blonde moved East (6) onto Flood plain.
2. 3 Grog moved SE and south
3. Our culture expands and we have another wine hill near the plains wine.
4. 1 Roads R Us continues a road (what else?!)
Continued science at 80%, 20% tax. We will still get Pottery in 3 turns, but get an extra 1gpt. This was double checked and noted to be optimum
no other changes made.
Save emailed to BAT and Admin about 8 hours ago.
ISSUES OF NOTE (as noted by Togas last turn)
Our expansion plans should be modified to take advantage of those floodplains and the discovery of our second luxury (ivory!) was a welcome bonus.
We completed another warrior. Need to decide what to build right now! We currently are building a warrior nd need to switch next turn if we want to build something else!!!!!!!

what was the reasoning sending grog SE, S? in the other thread, i proposed he move west towards that wine-hill, and dominae suggested he move NW.

I had suggested moving Grog 3-2 because of the road -- to get him further away faster and to take a look at the high quality land to our South-East.
If we keep with that plan, he can do a loop and return to Apolyton when he's needed as mil police. We can send our next warrior to the west as a long-range scout.
