My Observations
While the Cycons claims they have been wrongly done by with the 'evil cowardly dishonourable' Hive/Drones union, they fail to admit their own mistakes.
Earlier on, a union of Cycon and PEACE will be challenge for the Hive/Drone union but they cannot cope with each other and sadly that is their downfall. While the Cycon annexed the PEACE, the Hive and Drone progressed forward to MMI and now we have a formidable headstart with the airbourne chopper Kozaks.
If only the PEACE and Cycon co-operated like the Hive and the Drones done. Then we would have a real fight. I don't want to inflame the situation further so that is why I am posting this here. Feel free to comment or correct my observations.

Basically you´re right. However I think an important reason for this war is also the merging with Uni. We had long developed plans to destroy Uni (the "b" faction  ) and never had a majority to wage war against CyCon. Now that both merged, the decision was clear.

I think it's just a matter of this...
CyCon attacked PEACE....this means that their military, while "large" is weakened by Vendetta against PEACE.
Naturally, we are going to pounce on a weakened faction.
But now they are saying that it's "unfair" and "wrong"....but were they saying that when they were attacking PEACE? Granted, now it's 2 vs. 1 but the same tenet stands, Stronger factions will tend to eliminate the weaker factions....CyCon is weak, we are strong.

The primary motivation I had for attacking CyCon was that I was unwilling to allow CyCon to digest Peace and Uni, and then come after us.
If we allowed another decade (or perhaps less) to pass before the Drones and us launched our attack I believe CyCon would have been unstoppable. Then, it is very clear to me, CyCon would have defeated both us and the Drones.
CyCon was hoping for time. Every turn that went by meant more time for them to prepare to defeat us.
As it is now, we stand a good chance of winning.
My greatest concern is - Will the Drones stay with us?
Hopefully, we will soon have the factions opened up to each other so we should not have to worry about them backstabbing us, or vice versa.

You've would have won in any case. Delaying the invasion only meant that the infrastructure building voices within CyCon would have become stronger and stronger every turn.
