Clash site & forums going ad-free
After responding to Mark Everson's idea, the Clash of Civilizations site and forums will be goind ad-free
So far ads (should) have been removed from
- the Clash site entirely http://clash.apolyton.net/frame/
- the top of the forumdisplay and threads of the Clash forum
http://apolyton.net/forums/forumdisp...?s=&forumid=32
- probably in new thread/reply pages for the Clash forum
Popups and bottom ads in forum pages will follow
Visitor feedback is crucial. Please mention your forum style.

Everything seems to work as you say. No ads on the site, and no top-ads (including new thread/reply pages). I use the "Default" forum style.

Thanks for getting this going Markos!
Unfortunately there has been at least one big rollout problem. When I got on the Clash forum about 15 min. ago, not only were there ads, but they were more troublesome than I've seen in a long time. . .
I got a Britney pop-up and several for online casinos. Not only were the casino ones pop-ups, but there were at least three dialogs asking if I wanted to make the $@%&# casino page my home page.
My style is "Special-Default".
Looking forward to ad-free Clash!

No pop-ups, no ads. Browsing with Opera, looks good.
So long...

Hi Markos:
I don't know what changed, but I got the usual swarm of ads when hitting the Clash forum main page just now.

The OT counts.
It may be assigned a negative sign, but it still counts.

Mark (G),
When following a link on the Clash forum, I got through the usual ad-wait 15s or skip- page. (I downloaded a never downloaded zip file that was attached probably one year ago and which was apparently forgotten by everyone there). Getting rid of the redirection for urls or attached files would be great (not that I mind much clicking 'skip' or waiting it through).
