Join now for a PBEM game!
I am making a Pbem (play by email multiplayer game) for civ2. I will limit the human players to 5 civs. The civs you can choose are the ones from 2-5 (that is, not the english-carthagians-greeks or the indians-sioux-mongol since they will be played by the computer).

What we will do is start a normal game sometime in the next few days (if I get 5 people to join that is by then), play until it reaches about 1500 B.C. or so, and then change it into a PBEM game (since it would be very annoying to play a pbem game the first few thousand years where nothing is really happening).

Anyway I will be hosting this game, and Ill be accepting applicants. If you want to play in this game, REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE, with your email adress so I can contact you. When 5 people have replied, then we can try and found out what time is best to play the normal game up to 1500 BC.

Anyway, the simple requirements for this game is: BE ABLE TO PLAY ATLEAST 1 TURN EVERY TWO DAYS, and be able to finish the game which might take months. Each turn only takes a few minutes anyway, so it shouldnt be too hard. If you have no time at all after a couple weeks or something however, then do not apply. I only want players who can finish this with me.

Btw the pbem works like this. We play until 1500 bc on the net, I make my final move then, and save the game. I will be playing the Roman civ (the first one to move), and after I make my move at 1500 BC I will save the game and quit. REMEMBER keep the option "always wait at end of turn" on (under game options), so you can save after you make your last move.

Then I will send the save game to the next player (i.e. the Babylonians-Zulus-Japanese). He starts up the save game using "load savegame" under MULTIPLAYER GAME, and chooses his civ. After he makes the move he sends the save game to the next player etc until everyone has moved. Then it goes back to me and the next round begins.

Questions, comments plz reply

Count me in!

I already emailed you my preferred moving times and game settings.

Just one suggestion: How about not playing till 1500BC, but simply start the game on internet till one of the five players has to go offline, and then go on further by PBEM? Usually, 1500BC is reached very fast.

My possible time for a once-only-meeting would be monday-thursday 19.00 GMT - 1.00 GMT or the weekend from friday 22.00 GMT to sunday 24.00 GMT.

Ok Ill make those changes, when someone has to log off we save and do a pbem game...but I will log off when the turns become wayyy too long like they do in normal games when the civs have become too large.

I wont start tho until we have 5 players atleast.

OK Apollo, for this week only Kengel's times suit me for first session - though a fraction later, say, 2100 GMT.

For this week only, I can play Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 16:00 Apolyton time (21:00 GMT, I think). The Email address in my profile is the one I would want to use. I will be able to make my moves between 6:00-8:00 Apolyton time (11:00-13:00 GMT). I'd prefer not to be the white civ, since it will be disadvantaged against the barbarians during the on-line phase of the game; otherwise, I have no real devotion to any particular color or civ.

If this is going to happen, we need to address some of the PBEM issues, like the AI changing production on wonders. We should also establish ground rules on city bribing, incremental rush building, caravan rehoming, and other controversial ploys. I'd hate to play a game for several months and have it dissolve in an argument over what is and isn't allowed.

I'll be traveling for most of today, but I'll check back in tonight (Apolyton time).

I'll vote for no city bribing, no cara trading, no using the time machine wonder, no sharing wonders but incremental rush buying IS OK by Apolyton consensus - not my view but I do it all the time now, damn that Ming
AI changing production is a problem we can only be aware of - nothing can be done? Put it down to sub-ordinatres screwing stuff up
Since the AI screws up negotiations maybe we play a NO alliance game?
