Make Some Tribes Apolyton
I dont know if yall are familier with the gameleague tribes but check it out. tribe play is fun, im sure alot of you would get a kick out of it. we need some more active tribes over there too. right now it seems like adreniline, tuath de dannan, owl alliance, and sayen tribes are really interested in tribe play.

You don't seriously expect us to all rush down there and form tribes after all that has come out about Eyes do you? LOL.

So what about Eyes? Last time he pushed us around, the Sayen ground him to a bloody pulp...
Now, what I'd like to see is a tribe with Xin Yu, Ming, and RAH, taking on the world *evil grin*

I had problems with Gameleague from the start when preasure was applied to have all game setting up threads moved from the MP forum to Gameleague. Thank goodness we won that battle.
I still have a problem with Gameleague whenever I read threads that claim people change the rules files and don't even bother to tell their opponents.
I guess the preasure to win makes people do anything needed to get them a higher point total.
I don't think that the majority of people in Gameleague cheat... but from reading the threads, it seems like some do. While I personally have no proof, one must wonder after going through the threads
I play for the fun of the game. Yes, I enjoy winning, and I hate lossing... but I like playing fair games with people I enjoy playing with. I enjoy playing the settings that our normal bunch uses, and not the King level ICS settings that basically turns the game into a battle of who can crank out the most settlers.
So I will continue to stay away from Game League and enjoy Civ with people I can trust.
To all others who want to prove they are the best, go ahead... sign up... play your games... have fun...

Although I am a League tribe member, I can see how competitiveness can get in the way of fun in league games. I'm in total agreement with Ming...Playing with people you like to play with and can actually trust is what this game is all about and that is what most interests me. It's too bad some league tribe members don't feel that way.

i think you have the wrong idea about tribe games ming, they can be any settings in the game, not just the settings that are prefered at gameleague. i usally play any settings that come up for a varied game and not the same ole same ole, but the whole reason why i started this thread was to get some 1x1x players into the tribes. 1x1x is my favorite way of playing beacause you actually have to develop your civ,
its not about early war like 2x2x league games. but the whole fun of playing a tribe game is getting to work as a team with people that you know. you also claim victories and deafeats as a team instead of alone. another good thing about tribe play is that you have a solid alliance with one or two other players in the game. it helps to adavance quicker and make trading with trade routes much easier. i feel that tribe play adds a whole new demension to the game of civ. i also think that most of the tribes on gameleague could care less about there title, besides the fact that it adds a little bit of prestige to the tribe. if some people were to play on tribes from apolyton it would make the whole tribe system better because it not only would make people have to master 2x2x but they would also have to master 1x1x as well. this thread was just a thought, i didnt even think anyone from here would make a tribe but i figured i might as well give it a shot. i think a 1x1x tribe game would be awesome.
maybe we could even make the win the first to settle with the space ship

Nah... I don't have the wrong concept of tribe matches.
I know people play on different settings.
I understand the concept of preset alliances.
I understand the ability of an alliance to jump ahead fast in a game.
I can have all of that, and not play gameleague.
I can do all the same things with people I have played with in the past... people I trust... people who are playing for the fun of it.
As I stated before, I don't think MOST people in gameleague cheat. It's probably just a few.
However, whenever a "ranking" system is established, and people start "keeping score", it seems to bring out the worst in a few people. The desire to be "number one" has obviously effected some people.
Playing civ mp is a heavy commitment on my time. I would rather play with people I know and am comfortable with. We have a group of 20 to 30 people that play on a pretty regular basis. We even get a chance to continue some games, and even finish them. Most of the time, we get to play on the settings I like the most. Call it selfesh, but that's the way I enjoy it the most. And to me, that's why I play the game in the first place. What more could I want.

well if you dont want to play on gameleague would you like to play a tribe game anyway? i really would like to play a 1x1x tribe game but i think that most people on gameleague wont play a 1x1x tribe game. we have never played ming but i can tell you that i dont cheat and i am an hornable player, and the memebers of my tribe are just as trustworthy.

Trust isn't the issue. I have no doubt that you are an honorable player. I've seen very few cheaters, so I naturally assume people are honest. (until proven otherwise) Heck, I have a list of people I won't play with anymore, but nobody is on that list for cheating.
They are on that list because they mysteriously drop out of games when things go bad for them, never to be seen again, or they don't follow the rules that were agreed upon upfront.
But... 1x1x is my problem. I've played some of those in MP, and I just hate it. When I play SP now, I will always load the game as an MP game so I can play it in double production (unless I'm playing one of the many challanges). 1x production takes too long to get going IMHO. I know many think it's the only way to play, but I find it boring now. I've played single production many years now, and it just doesn't interest me anymore. You play one 4 to 6 hour session, and nothing seems to happen.
Now, I hate 2 time movement as much as single production (IMHO it changes the war element too much... catapults moving and attacking in the same turn )
So I usually only play 2x1x now...

Several of us Apolyton'ers used to have a tribe on Gameleague; it was called the "Dixie Tribe," featuring Berzerker, Empress, Slowwhand (remember him??), WhiteKnight, and myself. We were tied for first when Gameleague crashed (having beaten the Sayen and Silver Twilight), and since then we've just sort of dropped it.

Listen to Moker on this one apolytoners. Back in civleague days didn't most of you have tribes? My tribe, the O.W.L Alliance has played 2 honorable games against the Vampires and Sayens. Preset Alliances give the game new strategy so get together and make teams.

I meet new people all the time. Anybody that happens to post to the "Setting Up IP Games" thread at the right time usually gets included in our games if there is room. That's how we keep bringing in new blood. If they prove dependable, they are welcome to join or sub any game we play.
Between them and the old crowd, we have a pretty good bunch of people available. It's usually not hard to set up a game

Really? Well, that's great. Slowwhand was always a good player and a great guy. I'm surprised he hasn't contacted me. I'll look up his new ICQ #.

thanks Moker Guy for including us in your list .
...from the tuatha de danann tribe..
we do love to play civ and are excited about playing
tribe games.
i am new to the game and league.. it is somewhat
disappointing to read about altered files..and
people doing "anything" to win points..
the fun is in the playing and thinking and meeting people....
having the ole grey matter churning...
..... there is always something to learn in civ..
i am disappointed our first tribe game is in
limbo...but i won't let it spoil the game for
me...i don't care if we ever become number one tribe,
it is just fun to play as a team...
i am really glad to read Mings post about
his love of the game...
it is good to know there are a lot of folks
who play the game for the love of it..
slowwhand ,godsagent, cavebear and others i have
played in fair and fun games....
and i hope to play many more...
live long and prosper civ lovers...

CE-Sorry to hear Dixie is gone for good...I had a lot of fun in the piece of the Sayen-Dixie tribe game (my first, and, so far, only tribe game , both before (chatting with Chuck and Dark... , and after (trying to make Empress believe that we had switched the units for caravans and marines *eg*.
As far as apolyton mp-gameleague matches go, well, I've played a few games on both sides of the fence, and while there are (or, rather, were *wg*) a few people to avoid, both groups are rather fair, as a whole.
