deity = iadkins: Another Aussie Game 2x1x
We started a new Aussie game last night...
our nice friendly group...
someone was upset they didn't get their favourite colour...
they started very near that favourite colour...
they got lucky with units from huts...
they *hates* the civ that's got their favourite colour...

Just a little way into our game we now don't have a player. IMHO it's a cheap shot. We can all get lucky and wipe out a civ early but it's outside this groups unwritten Code of Laws, IMHO.
Apparently there was not even a dialoge between conqueror and conquered - just a swift and nasty, if lucky, break.

Hmmmm, trouble in paradise

The "offender" says he likes our duel more - lots of gore - about 60 to 80 units lost in the last session. Interestingly in that game the "colour retentive one" is in green, for blush making reasons I won't go into

OTOH, I wonder how someone would react if dark blue was taken

deity usually chooses Americans or Carts if DEITIAN blue not available No fuss. I usually only have to fight Crusty and markus for dark blue when in a game with them

But finbar and makeo have BOTH always selected yellow as their preferance ever since I started playing them.
So they both can have a go for it - one doesn't own it

Now, for my next trick...

So how long am I allowed to wait before I attack someone?

The thing about unwritten code of laws, is that no one knows what they are.
Isn't one of the unwritten code of laws not being a big wuss?

Next you little girls will want to start playing on King level.

makeo, I must say I am a bit surprised by this.
I thought we were a regular group playing games that we were all in for a while. I think we should play one solid session and certainly to 2000BC or so.
Strength is about being able to control ego rushes and lucky breaks to allow a proper MP game of civ to unfold. I'd say the sort of stuff you do in a duel is the quickest approach you could take in these sort of games... IMHO

Well the normal development of these games is you ally or treaty with the first person you meet but that doesn't mean that is the way it has to develop.

makeo is a warmonger. He likes fighting. Others in the group don't. To each his own. I think this is a good argument for having a couple of AI civs in the game. Then someone who gets knocked out early can transfer to another civ.

I'll bet if this group started a card school we'd be playing for matches

We despise 2x production. Or the sensible amongst us do. This was just a novelty filler game.
