Everyone, I would get CtP, but Heroes III is coming out mere days afterward! And SMAC earlier in the month! And Myth II in late December! Go out and play those games, you'll have no time for CTP! Wait 6 months till you have time, then get CTP after it's been discounted.

Get there now!

Ahhh! Everyone is stealing my tag of SMAC-man. Oh well, Snowfire deserves the holy mantle. I hope you'll join the BoS to advance the cause of Sid, as well, my friend.

Popstone, ask Imran. I got this information from him in another thread somewhere. I too thought ToT was(maybe "is") vapourware, but Imran insists these are hard facts. I countinue to be suspicous.

The only info we have on TOT is from this year's E3 expo, when it was announced. See these

Age of Empires.....what a load of crap! I played it for awhile and the most annoying aspect of the game is its limits...

1) Maps are too small
2) Too few unit types
3) Limited unit numbers (50?)

The only point of this game is for multiplayer scraps...forget about strategy!

I tried the demo of AoE and I found quite good actually, but you cannot compare it with civ. It's more a C&C clone.(probably the only one I really like)
ToT will ruin Microproses reputation in this type of games. Am I saying enough ? However, I didn't expect much from CTP either (I once called it an expanded modpack ), but now I'm pretty enthousiastic about it.
Some believe that AC will be better because Sid works on it, however he didn't helped with civ2 very much and civ2 became a good game, so it's possible to have a good civ clone without Sid.
Tool, I gotta agree that Destiny is horrible, the game's SSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring.
But Pax Imperia ? I only tried a demo, but I found it just as good as Master of Orion 2.
There's one thing I expect from future civ clones: THAT THEY BETTER HAVE A FANTASTIC, WITH AN IQ OF 250, EINSTEINISTIC, ALIENINTELLEGENT, UNIVERSITYLEVEL, TERRIBLE GOOD AI !!!

Ugh, that game (Pax Imperia) is pure garbage. Don't even think about buying it, trust me.

Hi, everyone.
I have never really considered CTP before, but I have just spent sometime playing the SMAC demo.
The gameplay is great, but the graphics really suck.
It is red, dark and dismal--did I mention red?
I had to play with the contrast and brilliance nearly up full. Something which is not good for the monitor or my eyes.
I need to look at other possibilities as a replacement for CIV2.
It will probably take them sometime to sort out the graphics of SMACK. If they ever bother. Some people seem to like the dark, red, alien atmosphere.

Theben, I said I found it as good as MOO2.

Actually MOO2 is pretty boring as well.

CTP FOREVER! and grim fandago is pretty cool too. Not at all strategic or role playing or anything but I like it. CTP CTP CTP!!

I say death to Microprose! First MGE which to my understanding SUCKS and then they are trying to force TOT down our throats! BLECH!!

I agree Mrtemba.
For me, SMAC is out of the running. It is up to CTP to give me a CIV2 replacement.
