Will there ever be a Civ 4?
Is there any room for a sequel of the upcoming Civ 3, or will the niche for Civ games eventually be filled?
As Civ 3 is likely to include the best of Civ 2, ToT, CtP and SMAC, it might get as far as a TBS game on tiles can. Nobody knows what computer gaming will be like in 2005, when people start getting tired of Civ 3 and enough expansion packs have been sold.

Personnaly I am not confident that Civ 3 will include the best of all.
CtP brought many great innovations, among them public works, a real trade system and the ability to modify almost everything in the game.

getting kind of ahead of ourselves. We don't even know if civ3 will be any good. What good is hoping for civ4 if civ3 sucks. I'm trying something out here..

Hmmmm....
I expect civ4 or similar games that will come out in the future to be more advanced than a simple computer game...
Maybe virtual reality?
That would be nice, and who knows, in 5-10 years from now...

Krushala wriote: "We don't even know if civ3 will be any good."
Well, I think that would be the burning question. If Civ 3 is good enough, there will be new interest for even one more sequels.
If Civ 3 will be bad (which I can hardly imagine) the competitors will see a chance to launch a Civ-style game which contains everything that was missing in Civ 3.

I can't see any point to VR in a 4X game. Bigger map, more variety in terrain features, greater detail in unit images, better AI, etc would be the likely areas for development.

Of course! This is business! These are the same people who brought us FW, MGE, CivNet, CiC, ToT, and Gold Edition. If there's money to be made, they'll find it. And you ALL know you'd buy CivIV
