Times are good for the peace loving German Folk. Crusthavn is a center of trade, culture, and learning. The Royal Belly Dancers are now trained in the art of specialised warfare and so by day they are Palace guards, while by night the second unit dances. They alternate by-monthly and it's just a generally enjoyable trip to this fine modern city with an olde worlde feeling to it.
Boat excursions are reasonably priced up the Kazoo Fjord, and even Nanci Griffith and Clannad have performed a few times, as well as the Monty Python Loggers Opera, in the natural stone open air ampitheater.
The war off to the west between our allies ruled with an iron fist by the Markus and the formerly evil but now seldom seen Roman's is keeping the land on alert. Our allies Ruled by Deity to the north are most amiable and co operative.
The Coloured Ball Pirates of Finbar the Blackbeard have been sighted in never never land, and it is rumered they have tasty wild mushrooms there.
The people cry out for more learning and wonders and .... hehe to be continued.....

After a sneak attack by the traitorous romans, our empire was caught unaware and he managed to capture 3 cities and destroy another 3. But now after many counter attacks we have managed to destroy 2 of the 3 captured cities, and destroy another size 7 city from where the roman homeland where the invasions and reinforcements where lauched every turn. The battle is fierce at the moment and the last roman foothold is about to fall on my mainland. Unfortunetly i am losing 5 units on average a turn and some turns i lose close to 20 units. So far the war has cost me 50 vetern crusaders to completely wipe 3 size 7 cities. not to mention countless ships and musketeers. But soon rome shall be OURS.

Seing the Egyptian starting to pull away to an easy victory the romans decided to challange them by a surprise attack. The attack was successfull and the goal of slowing down the egyptians was achieved. The ensuing fighting was costly for both civs as numerous brave soldiers were killed in battles. The german have taken advantage of that war to nicely grow their civ. They are now the dominant civ. The romans have decided to slow down their war effort and go back to develop their civ in an effort to keep pace with the german. Their superior navy and their troops well trained in their academy have allowed them to fight the egyptian while still doing some wonderbuilding, trade and city developement. The egyptian are still concentrating on their war effort and are starting to fall way behind.

We are not amused with more roman Propaganda. Our armies strong and our minister of the interior reports Strong and unprecidented city development. Trade with our allies monsterous cities has given us plenty of resources to draw from. And as of this moment our forces are looking forward to removing the last of the invaders. Perhaps then a non agression pack would be in the interest of both sides as we modernize.....

Our mighty allies are bravely fighting the Roman infidels and have achieved glorious victories... why speak of a pact when we have the strength to destroy the last vestiges of Roman tyrany
Go forth Oh Great markus and strike at the very heart of Rome herself! For, in Rome sits a lord so dark, so terrible that even Sauron would shudder... It is clear that B_arii is B-terrible and clearly seeks world domination. Do not apease this thing for it will only strike you once again when it is ready. So B_Ready And then Egypt will regain her full glory and lives lost will not be in vain...

Didn't mean flummery in the culinary sense, though well done on spotting the connection. Flummery also means "empty nonsense".

I got a small problem
Something has just come up.
I have to finish at
12:30pm Weds, ie 1930 Pacific time but can start at 1700 if everyone is free?? So hopefully we'll still have uo to a 2 1/2 hr session....
Really sorry about this and the short notice but at least we got that extra session in last week.
I'm sure we'll get another session in by the weekend as well.
Today I'll be available again from 4pm Aussie time, if anyone is still around;
OR finbar, we could play the pinky game? or duel?

FULL STEAM AHEAD.... Not a bad session today, i managed to get Darwins and WS. Fortunately i noticed the politics Arii, finbar and deity are playing, trying to withhold key techs from me. Not to mention arrii just HAD to go and expire my GL.
My wonder list is now.
GL, bachs, Leo, Statue, Darwins and womens sufferage. I think this is a pretty damn good accomplishment for a 5 player game, not to mention i lost 60 crusaders and i still have 70 units, this more then double arrii's plus i am leading in tech once again. Kinda hard when you wage a war as fundy for 600 years. All in all its one of the funnest games i have been in, in a long time

errr markus, we are allies.
YOU made peace with arii and failed to tell me the war was over! I had been fighting arii's allies, the English, and made peace with them when I found out the war was over!! Crusty, our other allie, told me actually.
Now, as per my icq message to you:
As an allie, in my opinion, one needs to share info and be clear about the mutual objectives cos what one member of an alliance does effects the others. You can't just fight a war, demand money etc and play other alliance members off against each other!
Then you say you want to kill English. Now I just made peace with them.... they wouldn't have given me those techs if I gave them to you. But it is good that your allie has at least got them!
Please keep me better informed of your objectives if you wish to remain allied to THE DEITY
So I ask you, how do you feel you 'noticed' this politics I was 'playing' with our prior enemy?
I think I explained my position quite clearly in the above statements.
---------
Yes guys this is one very interesting game with 5 very strong players.
I might just add that markus only survived that war due to the support of his allies - THE DEITY and Crusty
He was quite panic stricken when arii first attacked saying that it's all over if his cap falls.... blah blah blah... so he insisted that Crusty and I drop research and generate oodles of cash for him to continuously rush buy units. During this period I stunted my growth and, despite a period of anarchy, managed to channel huge amounts of gold to my allie, markus
PS Crusty's pg ripped thru the roof to Supreme during this time...
AND this is truly a fun game!!! AGREED!!

I was never informed of a war against the english. I assumed because finbar was reasearching so fast he was being left alone, as well i never saw 1 city change hands
Crustation gave me far more gold and support, and in exchange i gave you 5 or 6 techs that i had more then you at that point.
As for fighting the english, there are several problems, they are to far away to much sea to cross, and B how are crusaders going to kill rifflemen?

Ha I didn't know I was fighting 3 people. I was wondering how markus built that many units and city walls that quickly. My ally did not contribute to my war effort. My plan was to initially attack his capitol but markus built a city wall 2 turn before my troops could get there.
Now that the war is over the roman are back in the growth biseness and we have almost caught up with the germans.
The world is now free of the egyptian technology theft. Unfortunately our people do not enjoy past happiness due to the expiration of the hanging garden.
We wish to establish trade relations with the germans for the benefit of our two civs. We only have 3 cities over size 10, but have many size 7-8 cities that are accepting a wide range of trade goods.
This is one of the few game that has some balance with 3 domination players and 2 others that are not doing bad. I'm having a lot of fun and am looking forward for the next session.

* Posted April 2nd re war with English when they attacked our Roman allies. As you say they are a long way away and were not an easy target with the techs at the time.
* I also gave much gold to Crusty, as well as you, from the time the Romans first attacked him!
Crusty gave me quite a few techs and you a few too, I appreciate that
After all, what are allies for!

Now that gold is not being shipped abroad by the cargo ship loads, we stand a chance to complete our defenses, and perhaps contribute something of worth to the scientific comunity.
The German Folk are not used to being allied
and a court appointed relationship counselor formerly assigned to matching up vets from barbarian wars who completed their tours of duty with retired but still dancing and quite lovely RBD's from Crustyhavn to help Crustacian understand the phsycological aspect of this new MP situation.
The pirate Finbar was sighted off our former eastern seaboard, and at his suggestion welcomed him and his jolly crew aboard for festivities in honor of the dicovery that there was no edge of the world after all...or so it seems so far as some of the older seamen are a bit sceptical and advise more explorations. They did mention that in "the good ol days" they would have undertook this adventure by ROWING not letting the wind do all the work, and uphill at that!! Both ways too mind you.
His Majesty The Deity on holidays in the southern beaches along Ireland Strande, declined all comment as to the purpose and length of his stay, but it was noted that a copy of Avalon Hills board game Civilization was out of stock in the local govt run gaming store. Grande Admiral Markus was rumered to have been seen in the area as well. BTW has anyone seen Professor Crustacian? hmmm most curious
A very nice embassy was constructed by the Romans in honor of Ariitea (a character in their ancient mythology) somewhere near our central communication center. Tho Crusty felt in his gut that it might be more appropriate to have it located in the capitol near the other foriegn embassies, he aquiesed to Roman argumentation, (unfortunately the Sublimator Crustacian's chief negotiator the 1st lady was not present or the argument would have went the other way) Hoping some day to purchase the cities originally founded upon our soil by the Roaman's The 1st ladies previous "unofficial" stand on the matter was "nuke the turkeys!" She understands now that neither do we have the tech, nor would people be able to live there afterwards and was thus SILENCED....and there was much rejoicing in the land.
This just in: a postcard from Crustacian in Ireland Strande advising all to carry on in his absence, and the gam.....uh all things are seeming to be fine there not to worry.

Bad session for me last night as I let 2 important wonders slip by when if I had made better decision I could have snatched 1. I decided to go for Hoover and was beaten to it the turn I completed it by the evil germans. My powergraph looks good even though I think that with those 2 new wonders the german and the egyptian are in the lead.
Friday I have familly visiting so I won't be able to play until later in the evening, so depending on what you guys want to do we can play latter (I should be ok after 10pm ct and don't mind staying up late) or wait until tuesday.

To all nations great and small, you may now rise to Ännie Queen of the Germans. I am announcing this explanation to Crusties absence which was of dire importance to my well being. Crustie arrived in my defense to slay a great dragon. Thank you for your patience in this regard, his aid was invaluable.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm. I thought we said Friday night was okay. I know I did. In fact, we told Mark Everson we couldn't do the tournament game Friday night because of this game. I think.
I'm confused. My head hurts.
I'll know more about Tuesday night in the next day or so. I might have unavoidable meetings. In the cause of earning an income.
