I've got it too but it's so buggy that it's almost unplayable... it's really disheartening to watch North Korean planes take off from an airfield that has been captured by the Combined Forces several days ago

Ahhh, Falcon 4...
A great game, but I got frustrated with the bugs earlier on .
Only with the recent patches have I been able to continue playing.
And I still refuse to play with hi-fi radar (yeah, I know it's lame ).
Be sure to download the latest patches, the Ibeta ones too.
Then you can watch your new rig drop to its knees under F4 on full details.
But seriously, when you get your machine, tell us how it performs on your system.
And no, sadly, I've never played F4 online...
Happy Hunting (or whatever I'm supposed to say)!

Falcon 4.0?
I loved Falcon 3.0, but I don't think my computer can run 4.0 . Is it just like 3.0 but with better graphics (and only one campaign [3.0 had six]) or is it different?
Thanks.

You may be right, actually..... Falcon 3.0 on the easiest difficulty setting was a sashay down to baghdad! on the hardest, it was hell.... I really hated those Fulcroms and Mig-29's.... Most of the planes were obsolute, though and easy to shoot down.
That reminds me.....
Anyone who played Falcon 3.0 Operation Fighting Tiger:
Didn't you hate the Kurile Islands campaign? I mean, you could not shoot down the Russian planes because of the terms of peace or whatever it was. I hated playing psychological games with the AI pilots.... Getting on their six and putting on my weapons radar until their warning lights shone like Las Vegas.... Then having the same thing happen to me.... Most of the time, the pilots let you lock onto them and continued on their mission (meaning that they bombed a base or whatever) or they dropped their payload and lit the afterburners, but some time, the pilot (a rookie) freaked out and sent an Apex down your pipe..... Man that was hard! I lost many pilots who freaked out and shot down a Mig and faced a court-martial....

I got Falcon 4 some time ago. I didn't play it that much at the time, I decided to wait for my power rig to "do things right", but my impression, both from limited play and reports I'd read was that with the latest patch the game was pretty decent. Was this an incorrect impression?

Oh man! dont get me all bummed out guys. I expect this game to rock. The box says a 450mhz with 128mb ram is 'really hot!'. My new system will be 750mhz with 256mb ram. So... I'm looking forward to seeing what this looks like.

The detail is stunning, but the bugs were awful.
The have relased loads of patches for it though, make sure you install them as it can be really annyoing otherwise.

I saw that one also. I'll probably get it. I also have Janes Longbow AH64 - kinda hard to learn.

I dont like military sims that much. I have played a lot of ADF but I found it quite boring after some time. With the mg it is almost impossible to hit and I always ran out of sidewinders.
Then I have tried Commanche 3 but the graphic engine threw me out, besides it was quite boring too.
Then I tried Armored Fist 2 and that game rocked a bit more, cause there were more actions and some missions were really hard to do.
Then I tried Jane's Hunterkiller, but that was well the most boring game ever! Sure I played some missions and half of the campaign, but it wasnt that much fun. Even though I quite like submarine simulations.
Years ago I played a lot of Red Baron! That game was quite cool!
I also wanted to get my hands on Jane's World War 2 Fighters but I heard it was totally buggy, so I left it in the shelve.
Overall, even though I tried a lot of games in this genre, military simulation isnt mine!

I'm still learning... but getting a little better each day. I can land now everytime I try. Not that landing is hard but it did take a little practice to get it down.
Any Falcon MP pilots here? I probably wouldnt be much good head to head but flying missions together sounds cool.

I just loaded Falcon 4.0 on my new computer. WOW! What an experience. I started a training mission at 1024x768 and most of the graphics options cranked wide open. The view is *the BEST* I've seen on a flight sim and there was no sign whatsoever of frame rate jitter! At this rate photo-realism is not far off!

It is cool. I have all the grahpic options on and yes, it runs great. I really like the cockpit reflection option. We should link up for some MP. It is the best flight sim I've ever seen, by far.

One thing I remember about Falcon 4.0 is that it's not as approachable a game as EF2000 or Total Air War for example. There's a *lot* more to this game than jump in the cockpit and fly. Which is not a bad thing, but I will probably take a little time before I can fly a mission effectively.

your tellin me! I'm still trying to figure out all the sub modes on the air to air radar system. I have not even got to air to ground yet. It took me a number of tries before I could land. Flying is not real hard but just about everthing else is. Mid air fueling sounds cool but I have not tried that yet. Now, do you play realistic on settings??
