The StarCraft movies are good. The Quake 2 aren't too bad.

The opening scenes in Jedi Knight, where you're coming in for a landing at Nar Shaadda, the city in space.

You drop into au urban cravasse, hundreds maybe thousand of stories deep. Dozens upon dozens of flying shuttles are in the carvasse with you, all flying in different directions. You fly over and under suspended walkways and passed retracting machinery. Then finally, deep in the cravasse, you skim under the belly of hovering space cruiser and up to a landing dock.

Civ1 movie still stands strong. Not impressive graphic-wise, but you really sense you are taking on a demanding and important task when you start the game.

And I liked the MOO2 intro.

In StarFleet Command, there is a part in the movie where A Federation Star Ship flies by like in on of the movie intros...Then Three Klingon ships chase it. I love that. There are a couple of other battle scenes I like as well.

I also love the part of the movie for Civ:ctp when the King gets crowned and then it cuts to an invasion. The "Germans" blow up the very same castle...

well, now I want to talk not about an intro movie but an advertising video for Red Alert... it consisted of scenes from videos that are shown in the game as well as scenes from the "playground"... (construction of bases, fights etc.)... has anyone ever seen that? do you perhaps know what a music they used there?

That's a toughie. I liked the SMAC and Might&Magic 6 intros.

The opening cinematics to Starfleet Command and Diablo II were simply spectacular.

the civ1 movie (when you start a game, not when you load) is always a classic, but I was really impressed by the AC intro.

would anyone answer my Red-Alert-related question in this thread, please?

I don't know about that Red Alert ad you're talking about, but I agree that the Red Alert intro was very cool. I also think that the Descent Freespace intro was good.

The Civ 1 Intro probably still tops it for me. It got you so inspired and revved up to play the game. You really felt like you were embarking on something.

It'd be a nice throwback if Civ3 ended up having a re-done version of it.

outlaws was badass! that game rocked! network outlaws rocked!

outlaws outlaws outlaws!

as for intros I loved the starlancer ones but they were a bit short. The yamato was so freaking cool in those movies especially the last one where it comes in for docking and the attack on base kennedy was tight! dy no mite!

There's not a video when you load a saved game, just when you start a new game. And that's in the dos version of civ1, not in civnet.
oh, I see your confusion. you get a video when you load the game up before the options screen, too, but it's not as cool.
the civnet intro when you start civnet (load the game up, not load a saved game) was pretty cool, but not like what you got when you started a new game in civ1 (dos).

The SMAC and Starcraft Brood war intro really get something stuck in my throat. R/A was a good intro too I guess.

and in edit, how can I forget the soul grappling FF8 intro

Rand: just in case you didn't know, I can't seem to to send a Private message to you, due to the whatsamecallit in your user name. Do the admins know this doesn't work?

But seeing as I've already written the message, I might as well put it here.

Hi there.

Just wondering... why did you choose "Rand Al'Tor" as opposed to "Rand al'Thor"? Do you get many people on Apolyton commenting on your name?

I'm currently about half way through book 6.

He and Lews Therin have really got a theme going. But it begs the question... is Rand and Lews Therin the same person???

(sorry to those who have no idea what we're talking about. )
