Stars! Anyone Up For A Game?
Are there any Apolytoners who feel like a little game of Stars! while we wait for Stars! Supernova Genesis to arrive?
If you'd like to try this, post here, maybe we can get a game together.

What is this game John-SJ? I've never heard of it.
Edit: Oh, don't worry, I read the thread below. Yet another space conquest game? Is it better than Imperium Galactica II?

Bkeela,
In my "ever so humble opinion" , I rate Stars! even above MOO2. I got Stars! a few years ago, played it to death, then got MOO2 and just couldn't get into the game. (of course, If I'd gotten MOO2 first the situation may have been reversed, who knows)
Anyway, so far I have not found a 4X space empires game that comes close to Stars!. If you haven't played Stars! but are interested in this type of game, seriously consider Stars! Supernova Genesis when it comes out, it "should" be a GREAT game! It "should" be released at the end of October. (I hope, I hope!)

John: did you play the space empires 4 demo after it was mentioned on this forum? I checked out the website for stars supernova genesis, and the two games sound similar.
If not, what sort of differences are there between Stars and Moo2. I am a big Moo2 fan, but the list of things that annoy me about the game is as long as my desk!

Garth,
I did try the SE4 demo, I really couldn't get into it, I got bored with the demo. It was probably just me, I'll try it again sometime.
I like Stars! because there are very simple ways to do complex or repeating tasks. Even with the shortcuts though there is still a lot of micromanagement, the bane of TBS games.
Stars! is nearly infinitely configurable, has a great tech tree and research options, and it's race creation is (IMO) unparallelled!

One person has contacted me via e-mail expressing interest in a game. Anyone else? Might be nice having at least a few players...

Sorry this is off-topic, but I have a question for you John: why didn't you like Reach For The Stars? I downloaded the demo, and from what I've seen so far, it looks fairly interesting. There is certainly more species variety than Imperium Galactica 2, and it doesn't look to bad. I haven't naviagated around the interface much yet, but it doesn't look to bad. Anyway, would be interested to hear what you disliked.
Bkeela.
