FREE TOT(not WAREZ)
You have to register for some auction site but that appears to be it.S&H as well I assume.

Thanks Smash! It didn't say anything about S&H so I guess that is included.
For those of you who haven't done this yet...
The registration page has a section on entering credit card info, but it is not necessary (which is good because I don't think I'm gonna visit QXL.com ever again). Also, ToT is not the only game that they are offering: Carmaggedon 2, a soccer game, and others are also offered.

St. Leo - not if you've read Sten, et al's dire predictions for dot-coms. I think we might see more of these "if you at least register on our site, we'll give you... " come-ons far more frequently in the future as web operators grow more frantic to increase traffic as so to placate investors.
My bet is that we Yanks will be told that the game is forthcoming - as long as we're willing to pay postage. But maybe not. Maybe it's just some 24 year old kid who thought this would be a good idea, sold his 32 year old boss on the idea, and didn't even think about shipping costs to the States - which is not how you placate those investors!

I signed up - now let's see what happens. I'm usually a real skeptic. But I'll let you know what the outcome is.
By the way, this "free" game offer should also include free shipping. But if the postman comes to your door demanding a LARGE shipping fee payment -just tell him you don't want the package, and to send it back (the round-trip shipping costs should do wonders for the share-holders)!
Then you can post criticisms of the offer here. Therefore, I figure it's a no-lose situation

I signed up at Rival Works over a year ago because I got an e-mail that they were giving away t-shirts for new people that registered. It was an American company and at the time I was living in Canada but I still got my t-shirt. The service was totally useless but maybe that is just because it was so new. I should go and take another look.

I've registered too. I'm a bit skeptic though, this deal smells a bit to 'sweet'...

Registration for me was a time-consuming repeated process as I seem to be having trouble with unique login ID, bidding name and email address.
I clicked the "Free C2" link to register but after registration there was no confirmation about the sending of the particular game, ToT, I was after.
Like the other non-UK registrants I'm waiting with incredulous suspense. Would be interesting to hear of the arrival in other than UK shores.

I figure a waiting period of 6 to 8 weeks is often a normal period to wait for packages, especially from overseas.
However, I feel that if you don't get your free game after 8 weeks (from the date you registered), then it's OK to start flaming both the company and this "free" offer.

Cookie,
How long did you have to wait for your package to arrive? (2-4 weeks?)

As a postscript, I have emailed qxl's customer service department for confirmation that they are going to send the free ToT package. There was the automated acknowledgement of my email but to date (3days) they have not replied. I'll update this if and when I get their reply.

Here is the main part of QXL's email reply dated 24 July:
"I am afraid that it seems that you forgot to insert the promotional code on your registration form.
I am sorry to hear that you did not select the free gift promotion code when you registered with us at QXL.com.
As you have mistakenly omitted the software title of your choice please let us know if you would prefer us to send you a copy of the game "Team Apache" as an alternative."
-----
I couldn't recall seeing a field in the form for specifying the game package (I had clicked the ToT link to register}. What are other's experience on spec detail?
I suppose one can conclude that either they have very few copies ToT or they only have Apache (cynical )or else the demand for ToT had exceeded the supply?

The area on the form to place the promotional number code is easy to miss. You really have to look/hunt for it.

Nothing ventured nothing lost. Some of the .com money has dried up recently so I would not be surprised if substitutions are made.Pretty common in free offers actually.
Or you get nothing at all.
Oh well,at least somebody got something for nothing
Not me though.Wrong platform here.MAC

Mine arrived yesterday morning - naked CD in a 'jiffy envelope' so the P&P is fairly minimal - I registered a couple of days after Smash's post so I guess it has taken about 4 weeks (and I am a UK resident)
I agree that the slot in which to indicate your preference is far from obvious - maybe if you e-mail back and say that you really want ToT you will get it - at least here in the UK Team Apache is a more expensive game than ToT so perhaps they think they are doing you a favour?????

Will take SG(1)'s words to heart and try again paying attention to the small field for the game code preference.
It's heartening to hear the UK folks are getting their CDs, basic packaging notwithstanding.
Edit: how to distinguish between HTML and UBB

Nothing for me yet - I registered June 30th. Is this offer good outside of the UK? Has anyone received a copy of TOT who lives outside of the UK?

I missed Smash's original post (I was on vacation), but have now signed up. I don't expect to actually receive the game, but it will come as a pleasant surprise if I do.
