By the way, Ken, dont' forget to tell me what Herr Tischbierek played in his game. Maybe that my move was better ... Could it be a TN (theorical novelty).

Edit: Let's try this one more time. If I still have the notation messed up, what I am doing is moving my QN from its home square to square directly in front of the location for the QB pawn. Hopefully all will now be clear. I told you guys that my old brain doesn't handle translating back and forth between notations well.

Ken, no knight can move to c3 ! And if you move your knight to c6, as I think you want to, you need to tell me which one (b4 or b8).

Don't worry Smash ! Poor Julius is going skiing this week. He won't give himself no headache for nothing.
Ken, I'll be back friday or saturday. I hope you will have decided which knight to move by then.

I didn't even notice the other Knight being able to move there. "Poor Julius" is right!

My apologies to Julius and everyone else for the confusion. That was not intentional. I have repeated the move here and corrected my earlier post of the move. Have yourself a great time Julius.

Ah, then this one was intentional! Granted, I'm new to the new terminology myself but if I'm not mistaken, Nb4c6 refers to one knight and N1-QB3 refers to the other one. Very clever, Ken.

Thank you kcbob. I think that I have everything properly indicated. Gee, you would think that some level of ability in 4 or 5 human languages plus another 5 or 6 computer languages would be enough to get along in life. But no, they also want you to learn more than on language in chess too. With my luck, when I die I'll find that none of the three basic choices (Heaven, Hell, or feeding the trees) is correct and I'll have to learn something else just for the privilege of being dead.

Well, you know what they say, Ken. Give enough monkeys enough typewriters...
And BTW. According to George Carlin, when you die, your soul goes to a garage in Buffalo, New York.

As long as it is in the garage for storage that's OK with me. If it is an Automotive Repair shop and I have to learn to fix cars then that is not so good. I hate fixing cars. I only do my own because I can't afford the $80/hr plus parts that mechanics charge.

Ken, do you allow me a personal question ?
Do you ever sleep ???
Are you playing at chess 4am in New York ???
And you dont have to play that fast !
Your last move loses a pawn (if I did not miscaculate).

Julius,
My "day" starts at about 2300 and runs quite often until 1400 or so. During weekends it it is pretty much non-stop, with 3 or 4 breaks of about 4 hours each to sleep.
When I'm up and not working, I'm playing chess or Civ, writing code, doing research, or one of a variety of other solo activities. Being that I'm in Information Systems and on call 24/7 with a 10 min response time the answer to the bigger question is "No, I do not have a life."
By the way did you enjoy the skiing? I don't understand why you would be out risking your neck when you could be sitting down writing code.
Ken
PS I forgot to reply to your other comment. I find no problem with trading a pawn for a rook, if I've figured your next moves correctly.

Well, if this is the case, I definitely missed something BIG. I'm going to replay the moves on my chessboard to see if I am THAT WRONG as to lose a rook.
Boy, it would hurt !

Well, Ken, I hope that at least you get paid well for all this work ! An old school friend of mine is now a big surgeon. Gets lot of money but hasnt got any time to spend it now. Hopefully, later on
May your situation be better and at least your work somehow interesting.
Me I cannot complain too much : I am a history teacher. Good holidays and useful job for the community. Of course, I am underpaid, working in a socially unfavorable area, and I go back home tired, with the problems of my students still in my mind, long corrections to do especially because some do not even know how to write French, and the next subjects to prepare. But all in all it is not too bad.
What is exactly an information system ? I dont see what it is precisely ? On what do you inform people ? or is it newspapers ? Do you work on your own or do you have a boss who dares to make you works so much ? In Europe, it would not be possible to demand that much.
