Black & White
I spotted a preview in a newspaper the other day of an upcoming game from Lionhead studios. It scooped 4 awards at E3, and looks to be incredibly stunning. The game is Black & White, and appears to be a real-time God style game (apparently not unlike Populous, the Beginning) but where the God takes on your personality as you decide whether to conduct a reighn of terror and power, or to be benevolent toward your followers.
I think it looks fantastic (I'm particularly intrigued by the "Gestural miracles"), go decide for yourself.
Note: Sorry if this is a repeat thread - I don't read this forum much. There was nothing obvious on the first page.

No Chowlett, this isn't a repeat thread. It's just that the boring individuals who inhabit this section of Apolyton arn't interested in discussing this game. They are more interested in yet another boring Civ game like Europa Universalis.
I've been closely following the progress of B & W for 2 years, and last November when the date was pushed back until Spring 2001 - I nearly had a nervous breakdown
Anyway, we know that B & W will be great. Infact, I believe it will be the greatest computer game since Nintendo 64's Super Mario.

I will buy Europa when it comes out. In fact, I have it pre-ordered.
I think there is a great likelyhood I will buy B&W too, but I never got into either Populous or Dungeon Keeper (both the same author) so I have slight reservations about this game. But whether I love it or not, this looks to be a truly innovative game, one that will advance computer gaming for years to come! I hope it is both a critical success and an all-time best seller!

I'm interested in Europa as well, but I haven't actually noticed any UK release dates bandied around - whereas B&W portents to be out in March.
John: Ah, you see I actually got quite a way into Populous (I have to admit to cheating ocasionally, I'm not that good at RT) and the short bit of DK2 I had before my computer died pleased me as well, so it looks like I'll enjoy this too.

I hope that is true John-SJ. I'm so obsessed about this game, I don't think I'll believe it when I've got it in my sweaty little hands. I'm like a man stumbling across a desert, who has been fooled by one too many mirages. So much so when he finally reaches an Oasis with some water, he believes it to be nothing but sand and walks off cackling in hysteria. So to save my sanity, I expect it to be released April 6th at the soonest.

should be out by the end of March so you don't have so much to wait anymore
if you can understand german fairly well (and you can't wait for the release), then check out this site: http://www.gamestar.de/aktuell/bawevent.htm
There is a big special (with interviews, screenshots, wallpapers, a FAQ, and a preview) about Black&White.
Peace

Imran Siddiqui, I am already preparing for that, by stocking my room with canned foods, ending all my friendships, and buying a large lock for my door.

Black And White seems interesting. But Europa Universalis is already hear, and are a real kickass game. Will probably check out Black N White before I get it though, to much hype to filter the facts from the rumours.

It appears Black and White is going to be the complex RT game that I have been craving for years. Innovative and imaginative it should be great. But I reserve judgement until I play my first game of it.

There will not be a demo before the game is released. However, there are numerous videos available so you can have a pretty good idea of what game play and graphics are like.
Here is a fairly comprehensive stockpile of videos, although the site is currently revamping, thus there could be problems or very slow download times:
http://www.thecitadel.net/knowledge/mmview.cfm?page=1
Here is another site which should be fairly reliable if the first one is frozen:
http://www.bwcenter.com/downloads/in...tml?cat=Movies
Try and avoid the Quicktime mov files, they arn't worth the time. The mpegs are excellent though.
