another one by me:
works only with city walls in a city
if the unit that is right behind the city's gate in a combat (city walls) is a flying unit, the attacking ground units won't be able to attack the city for they're only able to attack the unit right behind the gate...
if the attackers are flying or non-corporeal they can, of course, attack the oher units or even also the flying unit
you can make a standard ground unit flying with the "flight" spell. this is a sorcery spell

Its a strategy where you cas "Flight" and "Invisibility" on a Warship. Its suppose to be really powerful. Dunno if it works though, I haven't tried it yet. Say have you noticed that me, you and Andz seem to be the only people who have seriously posted on this thread?

All right, I'll send it to you. I haven't tried it yet so don't blame me if it doesn't work.

I don't know. Maybe you should backup your game files first so you don't delete them accidentally. I'm fighting a computer opponent who has more army strength then me. Am I doomed?

yes, you are
they're so stupid that they won't get much out of their army
I win many games, but I'm always the military-weakest (?)!

"one silly guy made a show-off-post about LotR..."
Hope you are not referring to me?
Anyway, here is a link of a page full

This is not a reply to anything in any meaningful kind of way. Just like to say that Master of Magic The Concept (That is without bugs and such) is the best game I ever played, and I have played a lot of games. It beats the civ-games (a good second) the bioware engine rpgs (very good) ( Fallout Bgate Torment) and even some ol classics. I use to consider myself some expert on the game although I havn't played it in a while. One thing I can remember is the AI cheat incredibly. On impossible he cheats 10 times as much as in civ 1 or 2. He just makes tens of units from thin air. Anyway this was just mostly random nostalgic rambling. Cya around.

OK, here goes...
I commonly customize my mage myself to have ONLY life magic, nothing else. This way, I can take the Incarnation spell straight from the start, I usually choose Planar Travel and some other good spell as the uncommon one. High elves for the race, their mana bonus gives a very good start. Then just put your all magic to mana and start spelling incarnation, you should be doing 13 mana/turn. Build a shrine if you want to get Torin more quickly or granary if you want to grow a bit more quickly. If you're playing at medium/lower, use your starting army to find extras. When you get Torin, start rolling around the world with him. Cast bless and endurance on him as quickly as you can. At something like 450 experience points and a few good artifacts he beats the great wyrms, I can't remember actually how experienced he needs to be. Jaer might be a good companion for him if you have problems crossing seas, or if you find nature or sorcery books and have luck you can spell water walk or flight on him.
Home of the Underdogs's page about MoM gives links to the spell book and the manual, both in PDF format. Also has other good links, like the MoM hero listing.

I'm still playing on Normal and I think I've figured out a few things:
- Nature magic's creatures need more mana then other ones, so I usually pick High Elf if I want to use them.
- Halfling slingers are darn good. At Ultra-Elite, very powerful (mid-game wise)
I still haven't gotten to use the high-end summoned creatures and normal troops yet, any thoughts on them?

I found this FAQ very useful when I first played the game, tells you a lot of the stuff you don't see in the manual. I recommend it. It might spoil things for you a bit if you wish to explore strategies by yourself, though.

Welcome back Andz! So how was Mingapulco? Haven't played that much MoM lately. Did you get the Multiplayer patch to work?

Mingapulco was terrible
but even more terrible was the week I had to spend in Hungary after I came back of Mingapulco... actually I left Mingapulco a few hours after I went to Hungary... strange but true...
I haven't yet tried the MP patch, but that scenario with the "journey of the six" or whatever they call it... just too hard

no, I don't play with Halflings. they might be good in the early game but as soon as the enmy arrives with Great Drakes...
I usually play on Hard level. so when you think you're tough at normal, just try Hard. it's not too hard, trust me
have you ever noticed that there is no different martial law model for each difficulty leevl? I mean in Civ there's more and earlier civil unrest than in MoM playing on higher difficulty levels.
In MoM you have the same amount of civil unrest on each level. strange. so you have the same starting conditions on Impossible as you have on Easy. not regarding the rampaging hordes...

That's interesting... I didn't know that. slaps his head and mutters incoherently*
Never choose Klackons, Never choose klackons...
I've always wondered why MoM isn't part of the Civ-family... isn't the best of the genre idea-wise? A good face lift is all it needs... someone, make MoM2!
If no one does, should we start our own little attempt at making MoM2?

Don't worry, I'll probably die to rampagaing monsters.. much less being slain by a human player.
Did you have any sucess with Ultra-Elite Halfling Slingers Andy?
