Everyone's Fav. Scenario
I'm just wondering which scenarios everyone liked to play the most and why?
I tried the MARS scenario, and like that one. It has a strong emphasis with war. I think the AI opponets are war mongers, and since it has only a little water, the barbarians become a nuisance. But your able to get the fundalmental equivalent early (and I keep it).
There is also 'paradrops'. You may be able immediatly send the martian equivalent of Nukes across the entire planet.

Sure, Mars was good. The lack of water made it hard work until you got to terraform. I liked the wrapped-around-the-poles shape that civs took on.
The Age of Discovery scenario was also great. Particularly interesting playing as Portugal or Netherlands, and not using diplomats to bribe. Having to build up a colonial empire, and trade like mad was fun.

Diefinetly the MARS scen for me. Yes very interesting, particularly after reading robert zubrin. However, the militaristic neighbours and wierd dead end techs like Scavenger Crossbow detracted a bit rom the fun of terraforming Mars.

That's a tough call. I really like Mongols 2.0(not the new 3.0 thing), Vikings, and Conquest of Mexico 2.0(Not 1.0).:-)

I like the Bonaparte Scenario, the Ages of Discovery scenario is somewhere incomplete, the chinese in Europe? And the Russians conqeruing the Chineese? And so on. I got a mod of it somwhere where I have have placed osm impassible units here and there to prevent this.

Marcus Eklund's 1650 Europe scenario is one of my favorites. I had a great game as the Swedish with it a few months ago. Of all the historic ones I have seen it seems to be one of the more accurate, without being overly difficult or complicated. I love Jesus Balsinde's scenarios, too and cannot wait for El Dorado, even if he makes them a bit more difficult than I would prefer. As for fantasy and scifi scenarios, I would say the Midgard one and the Blood Dawn one are my favorites.

Yeah, 1650 rocked. And your playing it was probably due to my finding it in the huge download junkyard of Apolyton and recommending it for a review.:-)

If your on about the MicroProse scenarios, my fave is the Age of Reptiles for Sheer Stomping Flesh Eating Fun. However the Jules Verne scenario is a good example of what can be done with events.
For Apolytonner made scenarios, it's a close call between End of the Bronze Age and Dungeon.

Microprose scenarios: Nothing beats X-COM for sheer tactical playability. Jules Verne is definitely the best designed scenario from the MPS stable.
Best of the Net: USA 2010 got me hooked on scenarios, so it gets my approval.
Every other scenario: Jesus Balsinde`s Al-Andalus: Trail of the Sun rules! I`m disappointed to see that the link to it has been removed from the Spanish Civ2 Site, though.

dear johnmcd:
go to the downloads section here at apolyton, then go to the part in which you can choose to see the list of all scenarios from a to z. it should be on that list, but before starting to play you should open it using the first player, choose the cheat menu, then reveal map and choose no special view. overwrite the old scenario and ejoy.
oh, you need v 3.63 or C2MM to play

I'm with Monolith - The Lord of The Rings Scenario is interesting and challenging. And St. Leo - you have another fan of your WW1 scenario! Good job look forward to the next edition.

Lord of the Rings!!!
An unbelievable quest, a race against time and overwhelming odds to save Middle - Earth from Evil! Exactly in the spirit of the story Tolkien wrote, higly addictive. You may be winning, through the extreme trench warfare of Minas Tirith and just start all over again because you lost Aragorn or some other hero you were fond of! Anyway, the man who did this is a genius (and he has been awarded).

My favourite scenario has to be "Secret". If you like secret societies then you`ll love this one.
The European war one between the EEC and Britain was good too.

Yes ww79 is a great one. Nothing like unleashing large numbers of nukes at once. It's also because i got 2 of my top 5 hall of fames on that scenario. Another one I kicked ass at was the Mongol Horde scenario in Conflicts. It's almost too easy playing as the mongols though.

I played a good Vietnam scenario a while back. It had US real powerful but the VietCong had greater #'s and defensive positions. The terrain was also very rough.

I love WW2 scenarios, and at least three of them deserve to be mentioned as top-notch:
-Alex and Nemo's 2194 Days of War
-Harlan Thompson's WWII: An European Theatre
-John Petroski's The New Germany
Go download these three!
