Problem with BOTF
I have a strange problem with Star Trek Birth of the Federation. For some reason (options are checked and I have reinstalled the game) the voices that should be heard in the game (during the choose race screen, in battles, when you have new diplomatic messages etc) are not heard at all. Like I have disabled them or something. It is not a major problem but I would sure want them back!
Can anyone please help me?

Adivce: don't play the game. Serious. The game sucks. A friend of mine had it and gave it to me. I found out why he did soon after.

That is impossible. You see from the day that I purchased the game till now I play the game almost everyday, and I am addicted to this game. I find it one of the best, if you invest some time into it...
So, guys, anyone about the problem posted before?

Sorry, my advice is the same as UR's. Except my friend warned me before lending me his CD. I finished 2 games and gave him his CD back.

Thank you very much, I will try to find an answer there. :-)
I haven't tried the MOD yet. I am not sure if I would like to change the game as I like it as it is now.

Garth,
I wanted to give the game back to my friend, but he wouldn't take it. That bugger!

tanalias,
BotF is too repetitive to retain any long term interest. I suggest you to try one of the other 3X (eXplore, eXpand, eXterminate) games - the name given to most of the space stretagy games. MoO, for example, or even Reach for the Stars.

What can I say more? I bought this game since the day it came out (June 99?) and I still play it. I just love this game.
About RFTS, I did the mistake to buy it, even after the first patch (I don't even know if there is a second) I find it one of the most boring games ever.
About the problem with this game, I searched in some forums (including the link provided above) but there was no one asking the question and I couldn't log in for some reason that I don't know.
I just cannot understand what might be the reason for this bug?

I like the game as well.
I tried to make a MOD but failed miserably
But what are you going to do. The Only star Trek game I like better is the SFC/SFC2 serries. Nothing beats a one on one, Federation vs. Klingon battle. Only bad part is that the game uses older ships (Star Trek Movies) But the second version (which I've only played the demo of ) Takes place after ST6 and the cloakable bird of prey. Anyway....
.....about your problem. You may want to uninstall the game. And then run a program like WinDoctor or RegClean. Looks like to me that some of the settings files aren't being deleted or a registry key is saving the options.
I would:
1-uninstall the game
2-delete any and all extra files that aren't uninstalled.
3-check windows dir for .ini or .cfg files relating to BOF
4-run WinDoctor or RegClean
5-then reinstall it.
6-If that fails format the hard drive and reinstall everything.

I'm sorry. I should have told you that you have to register in order to post there. Just go to http://omegaproject.net and register there and you should be able to post normally after that.

Do not mess with the registry, esp. not with some silly automated program. That's one quick way to reinstalling Windoze.
I don't like BotF, and I don't like SFC and SFC2. The SFC series is supposedly inspired by the boardgame Starfleet Battles, but they can't even hold a candle to its spiritual forerunner.

I tried to register but keep getting the following error:
Parse error: parse error in /home/web/omegaproject.net/www/user_center/register/index.php on line 4
I like SFC I. I haven't tried II but the only thing that I hear about it is that it is FULL of bugs.

Solved the problem!
I uninstalled the game. Bought a new copy of the game. Installed with the new cd. It plays like a charm!
