No problem Crusty......seemed like one of those "internet nights" anyway with all the lag and stuff. We will resume on Wed. Nov. 22nd at 6pm......just wanted to let everyone know that this session will be slightly shorter.....I will have company over so I will need to end festivities/hostilities by 9pm.

Things are happening in Midgardr the great mysterious continent in the center of the world. Yes there are creatures both a blue and a yellow race who appear to be much like we purple humans, even living in hutlike structures grouped together almost as if they were organized communities.
The acting field marshal Genghis, comanding all "edge of the world" units decided to contact a group of them in a sensitive area, and egged on by a "coupe counting eager" unit was surprized and appalled when after the first encounter they vanished into thin air!
A mysterious craft was seen off our shores and all attempts to locate it have failed, leaving the official word from Crusthavn concluding it was swamp gas and not a craft at all.
Pictograph drawings found there show "green men" in hunting cerimonies and all knew it was some warriors idea of a joke, but oddly Crusty himself stroked his beard in silent reflection...
The royal couple at home in Crusthavn:
Hope everyone can be there to resume this game wed eve. I might be a little late by about 20 minutes, but hopefully not.

KenThur~ thx, tho there is snow on the ground nowadays, it is a bit early for the anual cabin fever to set in. hehe
Distant thunders are rumered to be great sea battles, and reports of heavy casualties have trickled in around the leading ports.
Fantastic sightings are constantly coming in about exotic new lands, and GREEN people calling themselves "Babalonians" have now been confirmed to exist! Embassies have been established with all in the known world and communication is being improoved best as can be under the conditions.
A small Aztec village sight is being excavated in hopes of finding new clues as to their culture and knowledge, tho little of use has been discovered. They seem to have had the ability to gravity feed running water for drinking and flushing toilets in their own huts, but few in our country would ever give up their outhouses in favor of such frivolties! But this new generation nowdays, you just never know, and the merchants are hungry for profits...
Is tuesday eve still on in addition to wed at usual time? Was it tues at 6:45? I can be here at 6.

If the game discontinues then we can finish our duel in the old time slot if that sounds good brocher.
Are you going somewhere Brocher?
**But I would rather see if Markusf or someone knows how to change our save to a simultaneous play game so we can continue, if everyone agrees to continue this way.
If not I think it should be continued as is till finished... Markus?
Just finaly found the right update on my modem driver and WHAT A DIFFERANCE!! It makes pages load very fast, and I gues it will help out on lag in games too right?

Hey guys... I'd love to jump in this contest as a sub for someone. The other Pluel died a month ago.
I'd be happy to play the suddenly "old fashioned way", turn-by-turn.
ICQ or post here if i can help keep this going.

I thought Brocher could play till the end of Dec. If not, maybe we could find a sub like Frankdogg or Kenthur. If our current game dies out, I would be happy to start a new Wed. night game in Jan( pluel or diplogame). Everyone post their thoughts.

I would like best to keep this one going if possible.
If Markus does not want to continue, and Brocher is gone soon, Frankdog & Ken Thur would be appreciated substitutes, or to take over a civ permanent whichever.
If everyone is interested now in the simultaneious move stuff we can go that route.
We could start a new game if necissary, but maybe as a last resort.

I could sub if you wanted to finish this game, or start a new one. Either way.
Like I mentioned above, I will be back January 8th.

Yes Frankdog, you would be welcome. We do in this game have an understanding about completing any micromanaging while the others are taking thier turns.
This way movement is all you need to do when it is your turn after quickly going through the stuff which is built that turn.
We each have about 50-60 cities and turns take for all 4 about 15-20 minutes if their is no big war going on with many pieces to move.
I am open to try the switch to simultz movement to save even more time, but only if all agree.

I can be avail i believe.
Glad to see U R all at it again tonite!
The turn speed may be a bummer for some of U... i just seem to take longer than most ( & YES, i do mgt as much as possible in others' turn).
With 5 humans tho it should not be a prob, since there's always plenty of time. Especially since one doesn't have to concern himself w/ building & moving carvans & playing the rush-to-build but don't-let-them-know-what U-R-building games.

Markus there are pills for that
Nappy you should get with Markus to switch over to simu moves if you agree to have that in our game.
The game was put on hold last night due to connection troubles by one of the players.
Frankdog will replace Brocher when he leaves.

Actually I have created just such a game. The rules are listed under my thread "Recruiting Players * a must read*. The enemy of most civ2 games is sluggish slowness. I have created a game that will move extremely rapidly and all civs will have a chance.
1) The huts have been removed specificly to speed up the game. No longer do you have to spit out horseman to gather huts, all that movement slows the game down and prevents the civs from growing fast in size.
2) The entire map will be revealed to all civs at the start of the game. This will prevent having to memorize a premade board and having to build units to go exploring.
3) (if Possible) the game will be played simultaniously for the first 50 turns (till 1500 bc) and during this time thier is no attacking or diplo efforts to allow all civs to stake thier claim to land and build up. Then changed to turn based moves for the warring part of the game.
4) all civs will be in contact with each other at the start of the game. Negotiate, trade techs and set up alliances. This will allow EXTREMELY rapid movement through the tech tree and fast government changes to further increase growth and speed.
5) The game will be played 2 x 2 for much faster game then 1 x 1.
6) It is also a no wonder game. It has long been my belief since i saw the changes made by the 1.3 patch that all civ2 patch games have been turned into has been a wonder building contest and thats a bull**** way to play.
If this sounds intriguing, ask me for details on am found on the MSN game zone (strategicking) or go read the details on the thread and leave me some feedback.
