Dear Fellow SMACers,
No need to be frantic. It appears the game got lost in Cyberspace (lots of SMTP/POP3 problems on the server at work these days).
Meister Weizenkeim just re-sent the save to me, it was in my inbox at work this morning (Friday 14th). Since Yesterday was a Holiday here in Switzerland, and the message was not CCed to my home address, I could not play my turn last night.
EREWHON will keep on rolling tonight. [cheers from the crowd ]
Sorry about the delay,
CEO Aredhran

Turn sent to Darkstar (PK)
For your information, I had a Terran.exe error just as I saved the game, so I don't know if the file I sent is good or not. I asked him to send me a note if he has problems, in which case I'll replay my turn.

The game is alive, the game is alive!
Now, if I can get you guys to jump on the "On The Road" thread, maybe we can have some fun with this thing......BTW, I am very pleased about the Civ3 news....how do you guys feel about it. I would have liked Sid to take the lead, I feel he is a little better at getting the gameplay basics down pat. It seems that Brian gets a little ahead of himself sometimes.
I need a second game also, if anybody hears of an opening in a good game, please put me in. Good hunting, and remember to purchase your worm hunting licenses from Lord Zod before you venture in the fungus........

Flo e-mailed to say he did not receive the turn. I re-sent it to both adresses. For the sake of clarification, when I post Turn Complete, that means I either sent the turn or I think that I sent it. I will post here if I am unable to complete a turn promptly.
If I do not post here promptly, it means that I have suffered a random event and may be dead.

Oh good...
I was worried. I had an early meeting this morning and while I had SCHEDULED time for my turn yesterday, I didn't get a chance to sign on and do it. I didn't want to be the one holding things up TWICE this week. Going to check in as soon as I get settled in.
It should be a while before I have any more early meetings...

First of all, let me apologize for a stupid brain fart... I sent my own 2137 turn (Morgan) to Darkstar, instead of the one belonging to his Peacekeepers.
You may call me names and flame me if that makes you feel better (I'm always wearing my Asbestos Jacket Mk4 anyway )
But tonight when I tried to sent the correct game to him, I got error messages...
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
darkstar@traveller.com
----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to mail.traveller.com.:
>>> RCPT To: darkstar@traveller.com
<<< 550 darkstar@traveller.com... User unknown
550 darkstar@traveller.com... User unknown
What happened ? Darkstar, if you read this and know what it is all about or if you've got an alternate address, send me an e-mail (aredhran@swiftmove.com).
I will try to send it again later, we'll see what happens.
Sorry about the delay...

I don't know what went wrong. I got my turn, played it, and sent it on.
I look forward to surrending to the War Monger Chairman Lee, as he has been building the Command Nexus for a few turns.
It would be NICE if we recieved notifications about people starting projects, but since the PBEM is a modified/hacked single player code, I suppose that is just silly isn't it?
I popped a pod a couple of turns ago and received a comm frequency. It was a human player, and I didn't catch WHO it was before Turn Completion. Fun fun. There are some disadvantages to never being able to read flash messages. Oh well. If I negotiated tech trades I am sure everyone would be disappointed.
Later.

Game moving nicely. Darkstar, can't you check HQ-Secret Project Status for info on who is building, er, ah, oh I see, these are just more of your SMAC nibbleepickings. Well, you are, of course, correct.
BTW, I ran accross a couple of posts from some non-SMACing bozos who like to team up on IP to play cooperatively against the AI. Live in peace etc., crappo.
I invoked your name, insulted them, and called them out so to speak. I hope you would approve.

Invoked my name? Why, I don't know what power it has other than get people spitting at you but if you think it helps... If a couple of people want to team up to try and beat up the AI in mass, let them. You know how to beat them, don't you? Of course, you could JOIN them in there beat on the AI. Whatever floats your boat...
Yes I was picking on the set up. Not constructive HERE, but when I have a few more such minor items, I'll dress them up in Polite (rather than Whining) language and send them to Firaxis.

I had a terrain.exe crash as I saved. File looked good by size, so I zipped it and sent it.

No Problem-I have had that happen to me before and it does not appear to create a problem with the sav file.
I am very proud of the progress we are making now! Good job everybody!

Turn Complete
Something different occured, it is probably nothing, but I thought I would mention it.
My turn comes in named Erewhon Gaian, 21xx.zip, after I unzip, play, save and exit it has always shown Erewhon Gaian, 21xx.sav which I rename to Erewhon Hive, 21xx.sav, zip and send out.
This time after the save and exit it was shown as Erewhon PK, 21xx.sav.
I surmise that the PK have attempted to infiltrate my datalinks!
Well, I am sure this is nothing. I just wish I understood this stuff better.

Darkstar, if you wanna check an be sure of which commlinks are actually available, remember to set to 0 the flag for PBEM commlinks in alpha.txt, near the bottom of #RULES section. The game reads it each time you start it.
