Turns of The Torture Rack
Under Vel's inspiring leadership in setting new challenges the Torture Rack game will now begin.
Players (in turn order):
Velociryx (Morgan): QuaziMojo1@aol.com
TigToad (Yang): daniel_tig@msn.com
Googlie (Believers): googlie@mybc.com
YT (Angels): johnroscoe@earthlink.net
Lord Maxwell (UoP): mathias.karlsson.1981@student.uu.se
Qualiciide (Pirates): erobert2@rochester.rr.com
Settings: Random planet, Huge planet, average ocean, average erosion, abundant native life, sparse cloud cover, Transcend.
Other settings: Do or Die ON, Look First OFF, Spoils of War OFF, Blind Research ON, No Unity Survey ON, No Unity Scattering ON.
Additional rules:
1) Governors: In all bases except the HQ base, governors are MANDATORY. Any settings for the governor (including advanced settings) are allowed. However, to prevent tweaking the governor until a desired result is obtained, only ONE setting change per base per year. Since there is no way to enforce this, players are on the honor system.
2)No contact between factions until after you have met in the game.
3) NO cheats. Refer to the various cheats threads if you are unsure, or pose a question here. You can go here or here for sample threads.
May the best man win

Qualiciide: You need to plan ahead with what settings you are going to give your governors. If you don't want them building Colony pods, disable that in the advanced governor settings. Ditto for other types of units. Or, alternatly, obsolete them in the Design workshop. The governor can only build units that are available to it in the DW.

Qualicide--if you get that unlucky, as we all will, find something you can do with the unwanted military unit or scrap it for minerals.. I imagine we'll ALL have more military than we usually do.. albiet probably not what we want where.

Okay, thanks to Brother Googlie for resending the sav file. My PC actually told me what the prob was this time, and I think I can fix it.
edit: no luck after 8 hours last night. I'm going to give it one more shot tonight when I get home.

I've been playing a few games against the ai with the setup for this game. It was great fun, but I gotta leave this game before it gets rolling. My interest in smac waxes and wanes, and this game will easily roll on for a year before it gets near a finish...
Better to bail out now instead of waiting for two months to do it.
But if anyone wanna do it as an ip game some weekend give me a holler...

Alright, status report: I can't fix it. For some reason (prob need a new video card), I cannot open the game. I asked googlie to disband my units and pass it on to LM. Hopefully LM will disband his own units and pass it on to Qual. Sorry guys.

Sorry - my fault.
I'll disband YT's and LM's factions and pass on to Qual.
G.
PS - you'll get the Miriam cheat message for a couple of turns as I replayed it twice to see if YT could open the .sav file.

Turn sent to Qualiciide, with the Angels and the University eliminated.
Question:
Before we get too much further, do we want to restart with two new players replacing YT and LM, or keep it to our current four? On the assumption that it's a 'yes' (replacing to get back up to six players) - I've posted an invite under the original thread in the general forum.
