No, it is standard sized, but the starting locations are random. I usually check to see if the player factions will start too close to each other, but I may have missed it here... if you are referring to another player faction, that is. If so, this might be a problem and necessitate a restart in order to be fair.

Is it ok to contact factions before meeting them. I'm more of a IP player and I have my alpha.txt flagged for no contact before meeting. What is the thing with PBEM?
