Ah well, since Jochen is away from today until next Tuesday, I guess this game won't move forward until then. The unstoppable Believer hordes will have to wait a little longer for their victory celebration

The first of what should be many University Bases fell today. Two other bases were destroyed. One by an invading Believer army and a third, aparently, by the University themselves. Such disreguard for human life is yet again proof that they do not understand the vision of the Lord's greatness.

Believer forces have liberated millions of University citizens today who glady handed over the Empath Guild and the Citizens defense force at University Base. Current military outlook predicts the fall of every University base within three years. If weather assists it could happen in two.

The University threat has been eliminated. Peace talks are in place with the good Peacekeepers... and as soon as my production que's clean up, we are expecting to make recreation commons so we can make the switch to free market. However, crawler and infrastructer production is way behind and we are unsure how we can keep up with the vastly superior Peacekeeper scientists.

We are saddened by the fate of the University, but will enter into negotiations for a permanent peace with the Believers.
Currently, we are producing defensive structures which will not enhance our energy or research position. We would hope that this would provide the Believers with an opportunity to develop their own bases for peace, rather than war. We have only one supply crawler (I think) and none in production. However, we appreciate that Believer scientists are not as effective as PK researchers.
In view of this, we will give careful consideration to any proposal the Believers care to make, since we have no wish for war ...

Turn sent... Our researchers have so many problems... I am not sure how equity can be reached.. :/
PS_ I forgot to cancel the pact from the University this turn, I'll do it next turn, in the mean time I don't mind about the little extra energy you probably don't get anyway..grin.

It is with utmost sadness that certain events took place forcing us into a position of war.
First off, our researchers are baffled by the concept of Mind Machine Interface currently being researched by the Peacekeepers, but our generals are convinced it would give the Peacekeepers the military might to destroy us in short order. They decided we must strike preemptively to prevent this.
Second, they say they control a sector planet where the Peacekeeper cities could grow cities at an amazingly fast rate. So much so that we will never have the chance to keep up with their population unless we take it down ourselves. The first believer planes were spotted over Peacekeeper territory last night with mixed success. Only two of the four planes that launced are expected to come home again. However, indications are our land forces will be able to arrive soon.

To describe the Peacekeepers as distraught would be serious understatement. All day in the streets, citizens were asking each other "What have we ever done to our good friends the Believers to cause them to treat us this way?"
Planet is surely big enough for both of us. Our researchers assure their Believer counterparts that MMI is important only because it enables a few of our most able citizens to reach the state of "Thinker", speeding research and spreading happiness.
The puny PK military has of course responded to these unprovoked attacks, though less effectively than we'd like. We have gassed a couple of bases, though not to extinction and one of our units was lost immediately although we don't expect to see the other two this side of Paradise. We have also found what at first glance appears to be 150 Believer units, including several formers, hanging around the Believer coastline at its closest point to our island. What can this mean?

Believer generals were astounded today when they were reviewing Peacekeeper construction. The sheer number of air units the Peacekeepers are building (and the number that get finished in 1 or 2 turns) is astonishing. If we weren't committed to this course of action already we'd be a great deal more hesitant now. Of course, the aerospace complexes the peacekeepers built in every base are already proving an obstacle in our path. Only one attack was made this year and we expect to lose a valuable plane as a result.

Fun game Tig - Momentum-Hybrid-Builder in miniature
**************************************************
Peacekeeper production is the result of the desperation of its citizens, who are melting down saucepans, garden railings and used razor blades as their contribution to the Peace Drive.
"The image that stays with me" said one aide "is that of a grown man sobbing as he dropped his collection of original, die-cast steam engine models into the Peace Drive furnaces. Mark my words, the Believers will pay for this atrocity."
While official comment from the Commissioner was not forthcoming, it is rumoured at UN HQ that Ms Mis, an amateur chef of some repute, is not best pleased by the loss of her skillets.
Garbled transmissions from the field of battle indicated mixed results for the PK air force. Military strategists were able to confirm that a fierce battle at Redemption Base has concluded in the destruction of the city. If true, this would mean that annual energy income for the Believers has been reduced by more than 10%.
"We are satisfied with our performance at Redemption Base" commented one five-star general. "But that is neither here nor there. Our main concern remains the land bridge being constructed by Believer forces. Our air assaults have all been foiled by Believer interceptors, and the bridge itself is now one square closer to our territory. If those rovers make it across, you can kiss goodbye to Humane Bureaucracy across the Planet. Whatever it costs, we _must_ prevent construction of that bridge!"

Tragedy struck Peacekeeper territory today, as two shining cities were nerve-gassed down to size 5. In the confusion that followed the attacks, the PK leadership was attempting to establish what had gone wrong. Although there is still considerable confusion, it appears that local bureaucrats did in fact complete the necessary forms to enable the transfer of garrisons out of the city. "At this point in time, the most likely explanation is that the pink copy was mistakenly directed to the Supply Route Under-Manager (Dry Goods)" explained a spokesperson. "Unfortunately, that individual is on holiday and the person who has the spare keys is off sick. We are however confident that we will locate the paperwork in time to prevent a recurrence of this catastrophe. If necessary, we can use the yellow copy although, of course, this would be highly irregular."
As PK citizens mourned their loved ones, similar scenes were playing out in Believer territory where University Base was gassed to extinction. The loss of this base will hit the Believers particularly hard, since it housed both the Citizens Defence Force and the Empath Guild. Generals were also pleased to report that the team of formers constructing the land bridge was attacked successfully this year. Sentries were destroyed, together with two of the five formers on the team. "We hope that this will buy us time" said one. "Whether it will buy us enough time is anyone's guess."

The exchange of turns between Tig of the Believers and Mis of the Peacekeepers continues at lightning speed. For the moment, the Peacekeepers appear to be gaining the upper hand, as three further Believer bases were destroyed this year.

Attacks on the Believer land bridge army continued this year, although success was limited as no formers were destroyed. Two Believer cities were eradicated. In the meantime, construction of a new network node enabled Peacekeeper scientists to complete investigation of an artifact, which yielded Chaos weapons.

LOL Tig.
News from the front-line was generally good this year, although the Believers are fighting for every inch and will be tough to eradicate. Peacekeeper armed forces will be unable now to prevent the construction of an aerospace complex in New Jerusalem, giving the Believers a base from which to co-ordinate counter offensives. The complex will also hinder the activities of the recently-inaugurated PK drop troops.
Two further Believer cities were obliterated and attacks on the land bridge army continue, although we _still_ can't get to the remaining three formers, dammit. The Believer impact rover squads seem to be inexhaustible.
Subversive elements spreading lies about "mind worm rape" and predictions of "global warming" were arrested and summarily executed. Leading scientists appeared on the daily programme Peace in Our Time to reassure the public that nerve gas is harmless to planet's ecology.
Addressing assembled generals today, Commander-in-Chief Misotu declared "It is not for nothing that we style ourselves the Peacekeepers. Peace is our aim and our inspiration - and peace we shall have, if we have to slaughter every man, woman and child on Planet to get it."

Hi Tig - Reading this post, I'm not sure if this is a bit of local colour or if you're ceding the game? I don't mind either way but if you want to play on, can you resend the turn 'cause it hasn't arrived ...
Thanks!
