Symil is dropping out, so we could need a new player to take over the Data Angels. Reliable turn rate expected.
Unfortunately, we don't have too much to offer, since the Data Angels are very much behind the Gaians and Drones in development.
Both Mis and I want to continue this game, so we'd even make some consideration like guaranteed for some years to the Data Angels.
However, if you like a challenge or like to play king-maker, this might be your game.
If there are any lurkers out there who are interested, let us know.
-joer.
I am currently holding the last turn from Mis.

Coup d'etat at Data Angels
This just in:
A coup d'etat has been reported at Data Angels where a key operative, Hackjob Googlie has supplanted Datajack Roze as faction leader.
Base Governors have been recalled to Data de Central where a complete review of facilities' and units' production is underway. Meanwhile efforts being expended towards the construction of the proposed Planetary Transit System have ceased, pending the outcome of the review.
In a communique to the other faction leaders who are pactmates, Hackjob said "My apologies for breaking off negotiations that are underway, but you will understand, I am sure, the necessity of bringing matters under control. I will be back in touch with you shortly."
There were no casualties in this bloodless coup, and Datajack Roze is co-operating with the new administration.
end of communique

"Second!"
"Yes, Hackjob?"
"Why are our datalinks not up-to date?"
"Uh, I ...... dunno, Sir"
"Second," in quiet voice "do you want to join Roze back in programming?"
"Uh, no Sir."
"Well then. Get the datalinks up to date. The last thing we want is to have The Lady Misotu declare vendetta because we are maintaining out-of-date links."
"I'll get on it right away, Hackjob."
"All right. Don't let it happen again."

It's true that the Lady Misotu's baby mindworms rather like to gnaw on the odd programmer. But she would like to reassure Hackjob that her minions are too busy investigating the hotmail difficulty to attend to this at present
Welcome to the game!

The Caretakers have landed a battle ogre on our island, with a rover to be landed next turn. In response to this, we are prototyping a nerve gas needlejet. We are building only one, and have no intention of starting a full-scale war either against the Aliens or our human neighbours. We are confident our allies will understand that we require nerve gas to defend ourselves against the Alien threat.

While we are uncomfortable with the notion of our neighbour building and deploying this weaponry, we understand its necessity.
Will it be disbanded once the operation is complete?

We're relieved to report that the Alien incursion has been destroyed. The brave Gaian defence stood firm and survived the Ogre assault (by a whisker )
Regarding the jet itself, The Lady believes that if the Angels had the Caretakers landing battle ogres on _their_ island, they might also want to keep one little jet handy
No, it won't be disbanded. We will use it to patrol for further Alien transports. But if you take a look at our cities, you will see that we are not building more units of this type. Nor is it the most advanced jet we could have built, from the weapon standpoint.
We hope that you can understand our point of view - we simply cannot afford to keep rush-building units every time the Caretakers arrive
We note that the Drones are also prototyping a needlejet, and we assume their reasons are the same.

We have noted the Drones militaristic build up, and we have regrettably concluded that to maintain a semblance of parity we, too, must establish an airforce. You will notice the construction of an aerospace complex in two of our bases.
We also note with some concern the establishment of a Drone naval base adjacent to the peninsula of land which we lay claim to. This aggressive expansion is disquieting, and gives futher thrust to the development of a viable Angels Air Force.
Do not be surprised to see the further construction of military units on our part. Although small, we are a prudent faction, and will not be bullied. It was once said the secret to a strong defense is a good offense. We are putting this into practice.

There were persistent rumours in Gaian territory today of sustained attacks from the Alien race to the North. Two sea formers were reported destroyed and the Gaian military is making urgent requests for additional firepower.

The Gaians are pleased to report that they have destroyed the Caretaker base closest to their island. This base served as the garrison for a number of air units and posed a serious threat to peaceful Gaian interests.
We hope that our allies will join us in repulsing the Alien threat.

Does that mean you'll be able to play SMAC while you're on your holiday Googlie? Or are you lining someone else up to take over?
