LOL. The AI certainly gets a lot of help
The Consciousness report that they have signed a truce with the Provost, who has undertaken not to probe them for further techs.
Turn sent to Tig.

Turn has been passed on to the Morganites. The University war effort is not what its cracked up to be, having to resort to attacking helpless formers and such..sad.

Hmmm... not too many formers left now. By the way, Tig, you do not fool me by hiding those locusts in the fungus.
And I still wonder what I did that was so evil and vile...

Nothing much to report, except that our power cut out just as I was putting the finishing touches to the turn, so I had to do the whole thing again. Really annoying. Nothing changed, except that one of my locusts got more damaged attacking an alien transport on the second time round, dammit. Apologies ... I guess everyone in CT turned on their air conditioning at the same moment. It's *very* humid here right now ...
2181 has been sent to the Provost.

Turn sent to the Provost ... we're kind of behind on the space war, but building steadily. Current status of ODPs is 5 for Morgan, 4 for the Consciousness and 3 for the Kindly Provost, who seems to have deployed all of them this turn ...
In the meantime, for any lurkers out there, the Morganites and the University are building eight ODPs *each*. The pathetic empire of the Consciousness cannot hope to match these rates ...

Once it got to that point, yes, it was lucky. But you were lucky to hit on your first four attempts. Four hits is slightly above average.
------
Scene: Press conference at Morgan Industries. General G. Morgan-Rourke, Chief of Staff, speaks.
'This is an official statement of the Morgan Industries General Staff. Early this morning, the Morgan Industries Air Force launched a series of strikes deep into University territory. Their primary targets were the planet buster silos and University Headquarters at University Base and the planet buster construction facilities at Zvedny Gorodok. Secondary target: any military resistance encountered.'
'The mission was a success, although it came at a heavy cost. All the valid miltary targets listed above were placed in the middle of residential areas, so large civilian casualties were inevitable. In the end, we had to bomb both University Base and Zvedny Gorodok to rubble. Other nearby cities also suffered large casualties.'
'Unfortunately, our reports indicate that Provost TigToad himself was not among the casualties. However, with many key command staff dead, and such important structures as the Cloudbase Academy, the Cyborg Factory, the Citizens' Defense Force and the Hunter-Seeker Algorithm destroyed, we expect the University war effort to be crippled. Most sane people would surrender in this situation, but we do not expect such sense from the Provost.'
'We stress that it is Provost TigToad's own actions that have brought this suffering on his own people. It is because of his decisions and policies that we had to destroy the two cities in order to save them.'
'We send our deepest condolences to the families of the pilots of two chopper squadrons that did not make it back. They will be posthumously awarded the Morgan Industries Medal of Honour for their heroic efforts in fighting evil and saving our people.'

Well ... that's two HQs in ruins. Some builder game
-----------------------------------------
The Consciousness regret the loss of life and wholescale destruction wreaked by this terrible war. While we are relieved that our Morganite friends have ensured the security of their territory and population, we continue to hope for the dawn of a new, peaceful era.
It is clear that humans are unable to resist the lure of blood and conflict for prolonged periods of time. In this certainty, we continue to devote our efforts to researching and understanding this strange new world. Perhaps somewhere here, so far from the planet of our origins, we can find the solution to this endless cycle of horror and death.

Turn sent to Tig.

It is with complete sadness that the following report was issued today by Ambassador Toad, grandson of the famous "Provost TigToad."
"Citizens of the University. I have been imprisoned for the last 30 years. Ever since the day there was that rally at University base and the return of the 'trusted talent'. That was the day Provost Zakrahov chose to return. He had killed TigToad and assumed his appearance with the help of advanced hologram features with the aid of the Virtual World. Now that the Virtual World was destroyed, Zakharav was arrested and is currently being charged with war crimes. It is our hope that the good people of the Morganites will have pity on us and allow us life. We, as a people, have appealed to the Consciousness to be a subsidiary of their empire in an attempt to make reparations for the detonation of the Planet buster which started all of this in the first place.
Our good Provost TigToad has been dead for longer than most knew.
The not so good Provost Zakharov is now being charged for war crimes (extradition to the Morganites is a possibility).
The new provost, the young Provost Toad is surrendering to the Consciousness.
------
Out of character, I knew I had lost when my planet buster failed to knock out the Morganites capital... at that point I still had a vague hope of winning. Once that failed I knew i was dead.. and I was never able to get level 8 armor out of anything, which really hurt. The worst was when I finally had the probe team in range and the damned aliens attacked it. Sigh.

The Morganites welcome the tone of peace and reconciliation from the University's new leader, Provost Toad. 'We never wanted a war in the first place,' CEO Tau Ceti said today, 'and we did only what we had to do to ensure the safety of our people. Since our sterling defense effort meant that we only suffered a few former teams, chopper squadrons and supply crawlers as casualties, we have no desire to cause any further suffering to the citizens of the University. We welcome their offer of peace, and ask only that they refrain from building any more Planet Busters and also scale back their orbital military operations. We will not allow them to outgun us in space and will take whatever steps necessary to prevent that from happening.'

Turn sent back to Misotu. We have gratefully accepted a truce from the Morganites. A little energy will start trickling in next turn now that the sanctions against me have been lifted and we have resumed trade with the Consciousness.

The Morganites are pleased to see peace return to Chiron. We thought the University was supposed to be under informal sanctions for another 9 years, but seeing as Cybernetic traders are opening new stores in University territory already, CEO Tau Ceti has sent an emissary to Provost Toad, hoping to make a mutually beneficial trade deal.

Since I posted a link to this thread elsewhere, I just wanted to add in the link to the final thread where the exciting story of the Cyborg, the Banker and the Scientist is concluded ...
Will Tig Toad finally capitulate, or is this yet another ruse? Can the Cyborgs build their first energy bank? (Almost not kidding here) How much money can Morgan amass, and will his x blink displacer choppers triumph over the <10> diss wave of the Cyborgs?
Gentle reader, simply click the link below ...
