(turn not received yet--just a message)
Yeah, well, I managed to do that but keep in mind that for one I hadn't built any project yet so had a lot of minerals. For the other, notice I have about 10 crawlers less than you and Misotu.. there's a reason for that.

OK ... latest turn sent to Tig. Apologies for the problems with the mail system, but it seems to be running OK at the moment. (Famous last words).

Third attempt to post. "Flood control" seems to stop me posting anything at all right now
Latest turn sent to Tig and apologies for the problems with my mail. Hope this one reaches you OK. I am trying to check in twice a day, but most days I'm only managing once at the moment. Hope you can bear with me for the next couple of weeks, when all should be back to normal.

I've been down on my checking too, twice a day or so, maybe three times. I went 14 hours this time... was gaming tonight.

*** MorganLink 3DVision Election Night Special ***
CEO Tau Ceti's campaign to become Planetary Governor, started a few weeks ago, seems to have been a resounding success. Early polls give the CEO a nearly unanimous vote in Morganic territory, and analysts believe that this may mean he has already secured a majority of the votes. Still, you never know until all the votes are counted, and we may yet be surprised by very strong numbers for Provost TigToad as the votes from the University of Planet come in. Stay tuned to this channel for full election coverage!
In other news, recent studies by researchers working on the Human Genome Project have led to the discovery of a latent Empath gene, which the researchers believe can be activated through a strenuous training program. A new Empath Guild has been built to take care of this task; If they succeed, the benefits should not be underestimated. We will be right back after this short commercial break...
------------------
So far, so good, but still, aaaaargh! Tig, I was sure you would not be able to build the Ascetic Virtues so quickly. I could have built that instead of the Empath Guild last turn and the other this turn, but I figured you had a realistic chance at building the Empath Guild before me then, but not the Ascetic Virtues. Alas, I was wrong , and lost probably the one project I need the most. Oh well. Congratulations, anyway.
Anyway, that is your fourth project, and all of them are expensive, so you do seem to have the greatest industrial capacity.
Since you asked, the temporary address is tauc@hotmail.com .
Misotu, no problem as far as I am concerned. I will not be checking too often myself in the near future.

Yeah, in a sad and bizarre twist of fate, the University is last in tech and first in production..
Anyway, we are pleased to announce the completion of the Ascethetic Virtues. Our cities have already undertaken minor overhauls to insure they are pleasing and effecient to the citizens. We are hopeful that the Consciousness will be pleased with how we've been able to maximize space and still keep the our settelments ascethically pleasing.
Also, our strongest congratulations go out to CEO Tau on his election for planetary governor. It was a good race but in the end, the Morganite citizens were just too pleased with his leadership to make any real ground in that incredibly powerful voting block.
(I could have finished the Empath Guild this turn as well but am holding off until a project comes that I actually want... as it turns out you would have beat me to it anyway. In this one game, the Empath Guild isn't going to mean what it usually does.

In his inaugural speech today, Governor Tau Ceti promised to bring 'peace, prosperity and cooperation' to Planet. 'It is time to stop our petty squabbling and instead work together to build a bright future for the human race,' he said. He also suggested that increased trade between the factions would help them understand how much they depend on each other and increase trust between them. Therfore, his first proposal before the Planetary Council was to enter into a Global Trade Pact.
The researchers on the Human Genome Project have been extremely prolific lately. Recently they discovered the gene that is responisble for the aging process, and the newly developed Longevity Vaccine can help delay or perhaps even completely stop aging. Morgan Industries will of course make this treatment available to all citizens, but because developing it was so very expensive, we must unfortunately charge rather large fees initially.

Turn has been passed on to Tau... Unfortunately we did not complete any special projects this year.. quite a let down, really.
I also sent it to the original email address first by mistake so you're getting it at both... sorry, Tau.

No problem, Tig. But I am getting more and more worried about the situation here - the University is looking dangerously strong.
Otherwise, nothing to report. 2148 to Misotu.

When I loaded the turn, it came up awful, somethign I hadn't seen before. Boxes were missing any time I had a choice, etc.. the boxes weren't there.. eventually it caused the turn to crash.. when I reloaded it did it again. After I restarted the computer it came up clean, but thats what the two restarts are.. I've restarted like 10 times now in our game, I think I've done it like twice in 8 other pbem games ever.. my computer just must not like this game...

Today the head of the SkyBase academy unleashed his newly finished Planetary Transit System. Its believed that the facility will allow greater tourism to our part of the world and provide stronger internal support for our fledgling colonies.

Tig, I have had exactly the problem you describe, on several occasions. As far as I can tell, it happens if I play quite a few PBEM games without rebooting. It seems not to like the fact that I am constantly reloading the game.
Almost all of my reloads have been due to this problem. When it is severe, it's almost impossible to play the turn and even when I limp on and get to the end, it often won't permit me to save

OK, just to clear up a little misunderstanding: I will be using hotmail until the Tuesday after Easter.
The Caretakers have nearly finished the Command Nexus. Congratulations to the University on the PTS. We hope they will see fit to open a station in Morgan Industries.
2150 to Misotu.

Turn has been sent back to the planetary governor... and of course the planetary transit system will be opening stations in all major cities of peaceful human factions. Morgan Industries is one of the first cities on the list.

The Consciousness has completed the Supercollider and is now basking in the sunlit uplands of technological superiority.
In order to fully enjoy this moment, we have refused to check the current UoP/Morganite research rates

Compliments go to Misotu of the Consciousness on the completion of the Supercollider. In other news, our war with one of the two progenitor factions has been upgraded from a skirmish to a war as several University units have made land fall on one of the continents.

Hmm. I guess that taking a chance on 1-1-1 scout sentinels for the defence of Consciousness cities could prove to be an unfortunate mistake with the Aliens on a war footing ...

Recent rumors persist that Provost Tig has gotten a hold of the Caretakers world map. While no one in University Base is willing to confirm or deny these reports, the annual budget did show a sudden increase in military spending including rushing funds into a new project that the University dubs "The Hunter-Seeker Algorhythm." This project had been clouded in secrecy and the official line on it is that its a research facility.

There are rumours that the genetic research teams at Morgan Industries have been unusually busy lately. There are no official comments as yet.
Morganic psychiatrists report that depression rates have risen sharply recently. The interesting thing is that many of the new patients have been hobby hackers. Apparently University network security has received a heavy upgrade.

The word in Alpha Prime is that top Functions are torn between continued infrastructure development and increased military spending.
Although no official comment was forthcoming, it is known that the briefing document for today's high-level meeting was headed up "A Rock and a Hard Place".
