War, Supersneak's response to you - immediately above - was precisely the reason why I didn't make the same screamingly obvious point. It's like leaving food on a kitchen bench overnight attracts cockroaches.

Yeah, well, your food is so good, so you can at least console yourself with the fact that you only attract the highest quality pest, right?
I did answer your silly "spins and quicks" challenge, after all.

For the benifit of our Yankee visotrs , Finbars aside re "3 quicks and one spinner or two quicks two spinners" was in reference to the type of bowlers to be used. In cricket you have 11 per team , of which normally 6-7 are batsmen and 4-5 are bowlers. of course sometimes Batsmen can be allrounders which means they bat and bowl. The current Invincible Australain team has 7 great batsmen so we use only 4 dedicated bowlers, now the type of bowlers we choose each match can be different, depending on the pitch. In India the pitch is more suitable to spin bowling not pace so usually you would go with 2 quicks and 2 spin, but our current Invincible Aussie team tends to use 3 quicks and 1 spin....
Hope that makes things less clear.....

Pity you had to reintroduce cricket into the conversation, Raz. I'm obliged to report that Australia are now 3/71. Langer out, caught out at first slip off the offie. Mark Waugh out first ball, caught at leg slip. Their offie is turning it square.

Mmm. I posted too soon. We're now 5/98. Steve Waugh counter-attacked successfuly for 15. Given out caught at slip off the offie. Pity it quite clearly came off his pad. Ponting out caught at bat-pad for a blob.

He's done this before, Hydey, but mixed it up with a lot of crap. I'm yet to be convinced he's of genuine Test class.

It's our thread, we'll do what we want with it.
Hydey, I don't doubt Steve Waugh thinks he's up to it. I just wish Mattie Elliot could get his head together. He's got a lot more ability. Pity about his brain.

He backed his eye against the quite amazing pitch. He won. A couple of his 6s were simple slogs. It's an incredible pitch. Tendulkar was bowling his offies, they were turning two feet, and Mongia was taking them over his head.

Well, surely a case of art reflecting life. Apart from that, you're a greedy bugger. Hydey did all the hard yards against the Persians - albeit slowly - and he should have had first crack at the Americans. I'd've been prepared to wait. And wait.

Where on earth do you get that idea? I could hardly leave the Americans rampaging on the same island as my recent German conquests. They attacked me, I acted in self defence. The idea of reserving the Americans for Hydey was never discussed with me.

Sounds like you want a sort of mafia game where you, me and Hydey carve up the "territories". Can I be Bob Trimbole's horse?
Okay, if you want to play it like that, why don't you take the Indians and Hydey can take the Zulus (who are closest to him).

Yes thanks for that contribution raz
Well hopefully we got over the hump last night with Finbar's frequent drops on 1923. I really want to finish this game, we've invested a lot of time in it. I think we are rapidly reaching the point where it will be clear that I am going to win and you two can graciously concede and bow down to my manifest magnificence

Back to a 5 hand game, the border dispute game. Not much happened but there were no arguments so I suppose that is something.
