2108 to Misotu.
I've got monolith for 1st base, 2nd base on what looks like long river. Another river and an energy special close. Rainy rolling square for 2nd base. Looks like a good size land mass. Switched to planned with 1/2 the money from the Unity Wreckage. Knew where you were hiding. Was ready to build 4 foils, 5 rovers, 1 garrison, and 2 probes and pay you a visit. Too bad you weren't in the jungle. I could have used the extra population.

I just sent the 2nd start to Tau Ceti.
I've checked this one for balance before sending it out, and it's not obvious which team has the better starting position.
Good luck!

Season's Greetings everyone, and apologies for the delay. I don't think there would be snow on Chiron at this time of year, since I've never seen any snow anywhere on Planet, not even in the polar regions ...

Misotu:
I think that there is *LOTS* of ice and snow on Chiron. You can tell, because on Terra, the only way the sea level could rise as a result of global warming (by anywhere near the amount seen in SMAC) would be by the melting of the polar ice caps.
Skanderbeg talks of a game where the sea level rose 3000+ meters . In order for this to happen, Chiron would have to have truly massive polar ice caps. I notice the standard game maps are twice as wide (east-west) as they are high (north-south): if they are covering the whole planet they should have roughly equal dimensions. I infer that everywhere north of 45 degrees N and south of 45 degrees south is covered in an ice sheet... Even so, that ice sheet would have to be several kilometers thick for the observed increase in sea level to take place .

Hi Basil. I'm sure you're right . But still, none of my scouts has ever encountered snow. So I suggest the following explanations:
- The polar ice cap is actually located in vast caverns beneath the surface of Planet. When the temperature rises, it melts and flows into the seas. This ice and snow is not visible on the map - and snow never falls on Chiron so a visible ice cap never appears.
alternatively ....
- Chiron snow is transparent. Or invisible. Or pink.
Either way, there's no White Christmas on Chiron

2106 to Googlie.
Given that Chiron's climate is roughly similar to the Earth's, and that the oceans are water, there should almost certainly be snow in some places...
