And now, of course, it *has* been directed at you - the Peacekeepers do not deal in empty threats. We believe the Gaians were looking west? Perhaps a closer scrutiny of the east would have served you better

Now. There is a key base, on the Gaian mainland, well-defended and in the hands of the enemy. Will the Gaians destroy it? *Can* they destroy it after the ravages of the PK choppers? And what will happen if they do not?

Enquiring minds want to know ...

2172 off to the Quakers.

Well, as promised the Peacekeepers have delivered the game to the Hive. We obviously cannot stand up to coordinated attacks from two factions --two against one is a foregone conclusion, especially with the Hive owning two start islands.

This game really illustrates the critical importance of the Gaian -1 morale as a primary faction weakness. Our 1-<3>-1's with aero compex (3 x 2 x 2 x 1.25 for base =15 defense) fell easily to 6X attackers (6 x 1.5 = 9 attack) because of the huge effect of -12.5% or -25% on base defense (applied before the multiplers) versus the attacking commando and elite units.

Perhaps, although the scout defenders stationed in the majority of your bases tended not to be terribly effective against x missile regardless of morale

The battles fought against your AAA defenders have been tough ones and it has generally required 2 air units to take one defender - don't creches cancel negative morale modifiers and confer a bonus? I am getting a total defence rating of 16.87 on a green <3> defender, after a +12% morale rating has been applied (Green ++). Even with my 37% bonus for commando, or 50% bonus for elite, this means that the odds are very much in your favour since I get a max attack rating of 13.5 .

I think the game really illustrates the importance of careful diplomacy and political strategy. There is little point in embarking on an unwinnable war, particularly when the consequences of such a war have been clearly defined by the proposed victim. And when one faction has twice the bases of the other two, with a well-developed infrastructure and military, it is suicide for the other two factions to fight each other ...

edited to add that 2173 has been sent ...

The Gaians resign. Our situation is utterly hopeless with attacks continuing to come from both sides.

Turn passed to Viriato, who has our congradulations on a brilliantly played game!

In line with the off-line diplomacy, the Peacekeepers also resign the game.

Congratulations Viriato - your military performance was one of the best I've ever seen
