If the main concern is the sunspot activity, with seven human players it is irrelevant, as the diplomacy screens always come up for humans - it's the AI you can't contact during sunspots.

I have to contradict you here, GooglieRynn, Sunspots apply to humans as well. You won't be able to open the diplomacy screen when sunspots are on.
There is one catch though (that can be considered as a bug): if the diplo screen is open, and kept active (by, say, offering your map, or 0 energy, each turn), then you can keep exchanging information during the whole time.
As I told Tau Ceti via e-mail, I have some modem problems at home (details here). I have received all unit choices except mark13 and Misotu.
Will post a summary of the game settings here as soon as I can, and before sending the file to the first player.

Sorry my mistake.
You will take the Believers ...sister Rynn .

When I asked Aredhran, I told him to use the Believers for Rynn. I also asked him to use time zone order, ie.
Solver
Keygen
Tau Ceti
mark13
Misotu
big_canuk
Rynn
Not the fairly random order Keygen listed...
|
OK, I agree Tau Ceti.

Kinda late for discussion (I do not think I specified it either way in my mail for 'Red, though), but is there any point in restarting eliminated factions when we have this kind of accelerated start? If you are taken out early, you will be so far behind it is not even funny...
|
I don't mind. Accually I prefer not to restart the eliminated players! It was just in a previous post. Googlie's post I think .

I haven't!
Well, soon then .
OK. New changes:
Players factions and order:
a) Solver -> Consciousness
b) Keygen -> The University
c) Tau Ceti -> Spartans
d) Mark13 -> Peacekeepers
e) Misotu -> Hive
f) Big Kanuk -> Morganites
g) Googlie -> Believers
Rules
No Restart eliminated players
Googlie, do you prefer to be called Rynn?
And Welcome Aredhran!

Keygen:
Just a little conventionI've had for almost a couple of years now (initially "tongue in cheek", now I use it to receive/distribute e-mails over 2 accounts)
For female characters I play as Rynn, (originally chosen when I had a "tempestuous affair" with Rynn of Drakan fame - soon tired of that game, tho), and would like Rynn games to be sent to:
rynn@civgaming.net
Aredhran:
I was sure I'd been in a seven player game that didn't block communications between sunspots. With 1 or more AI, or even empty slots, it does, IIRC the emails that went between us - but maybe we were keeping commlinks open with the 0 energy trick, which everyone seems to use (or "attack the Aliens" where they are in the game)
Trust you'll soon have your replacement modem
G.

We should decide how we will get scores every 10 turns to Solver. I don't think we should ask 'Red to do it.
Every 10 turns we post our scores to the thread. We will designate someone to assemble them and email to Solver, ccing everyone in the game. Once we have a governor or the EG, then we could nominate one of them to do it. I think the job should go to player with EG. What do you think?
I posted this in the Scoring Thread, and Solver said we could do it how we like. He was concerned about cheating, if we did it this way. I'm not concerned, cause anyone caught would be tarred and burned. (ie, not worth it)

I'm sure Aredhran will get to it as soon as he can. It requires some thought and care, it's not a 5-minute job
In the meantime, Red posted to say that he had not received the "wotsits" info from everyone. The last 3 he needed were me, Mark and Keygen. Mark and I both posted to say that we had sent our info - Keygen, did you send yours off too?

Nope, he got his modem, or he's posting on a different computer. We should consider re-opening this thread on ACOL, where 'Red moderates. He posts regularly to the CMN request threads there. For example: http://www.an.i-dentity.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000104.html

Just got an e-mail....
**************************
Greetings,
As some of you might know, my modem died on me last week. I just got the new one installed, and spent my evening playing all the PBEM turns that were waiting for me...
The game is almost ready, I just need to create the extra units. Unless something comes up tomorrow night, you should have it for the week-end.
Just one question: would you rather set the passwords yourselves, or should I go through the first turn and set them ?
Aredhran

I vote for setting the passwords ourselves. We can then email them to Aredhran. Easier for my mind to remember.

Sorry sir, too late I hope you'll find your password easy enough to remember.
The game has been sent to Solver. Turn tracking thread http://apolyton.net/forums/Forum27/HTML/000390.html

And for those of you who were wondering why I was posting at ACOL (and sometimes here at Poly as well ), it's because I have 'net access at work, but I obviously don't play SMAC there

Good point Aredhran .
Yes Misotu I had sent my preferences to Aredhran and I've got them .
I'll hold this thread open a little more to post any problem or suggestion to the game for the first turn or maybe the second the most.
