----------
Hear yea, hear yea, hear yea
The planetary governor has called for the passing of the global trade pact. I'm sure you will all agree, that it is best to improve our economic relations to better survive on this inhospitable world.
I look forward to a yea vote from you all.
Chairman Big_Canuk

Sorry I took so long to play my turn. I was out all day at the county chess tournament. 825 kids grade K-8. My son won 5/5 games in grade 5, and qualified for the Ontario Provincial Championship!

And on to Basil (would have been quicker, but AOL here in PS is the pits - I think they only install fast hookups for the Golf events - this connection is my eighth sign on attempt and is at 12,200.
(zipped game upload to Basil was just under 2 minutes)

2185 to Googlie
---------
My Fellow Chironites:
The ec-loony forces of the CEO Basil of the Morganites have ruthlessly attacked my forces. His probe actions were met with me gracefully returning his probes unharmed. He stumbled accross my transport, at the border of our territories, loaded with a probe, 2 recon rovers, and an impact rover and claimed that they were a threat, not the explorers they trully were. They were preparing to occupy a drop colony pod new base which would have been established in my territory. His bases were defended by 3+ defenders with perimiter defences. My forces were hardly a threat.
I have offered that he can pay compensation, to end this fight. In light of the fact that he did not try diplomacy to resolve the situation in the first place, I ask that you do not assist CEO Basil in his fight. You may continue your pacts, and trade with caution. However, allowing use of your bases, or giving information regarding the deployment of my forces will not be kindly looked upon.
I would suggest that since CEO Basil will be crushed in 5 or so years, that you consider ending your pacts, and trade relations with him now. Then we can live peacefully on our way to the future on this lovely planet.

Hear Ye, Hear ye:
Whereas I am a Pactmate of the other three major factions on Planet (and in Vendetta with the two minor ones)
and Whereas I find it invidious to be under the Planetary Governorship of a faction leader - albeit a Pactmate - who is engaged in warfare with another Pactmate - for whatever reason
I do hereby solemly call for fresh Gubernatorial elections, and I am pleased to put forward the candidacy - and support - Commissioner Paul of the Peacekeepers.
Candidates:
Chairman big_canuk: 157 votes
Commissioner Paul: 118 votes
Voting:
Provost Googlie: 57 votes (for Commissioner Paul)
CEO Basil: 45 votes
Lady Deirdre Skye: 7 votes
Colonel Santiago: 2 votes
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Oh, and 2185 to Basil

I protest!!
I was attacked!!
This war was not my doing!
Pactmate Googlie:
Your logic indicates that if I attacked my peaceful neighbour Commissioner Paul, that he would be disqualified from your consideration as well. That is balderdash. The victim of a war should *not* be punished. I would and will not start a war unless provoked, and then only with due warning.
I demand a recount!
Chairman (Al) Big_Canuk

The transport was not at the border of our territories; it was within my territory (4 squares from my headquarters; 3 squares from a base garrisoned with one military unit; 6 squares from his nearest base). It was laden with a probe, a recon rover, and two impact rovers. They were not explorers; he knew the territory well. You do not garrison new bases in the middle of large fungus fields with impact rovers. My headquarters was defended by 3 defenders, another base contained with 2 military units and 2 formers, a third nearby base contained 1 military unit - 3+ defenders? hardly.
My probe action was intended to discover his military strength. If the Hive was a peaceful faction, this would not have been a threat to him. Since his bases near me contained numerous squadrons of missile copters and penetrators, he desired to conceal their presence until the last minute.
The Chairman is lying through his teeth. Peaceful factions who might respond to diplomacy do not station divisions of impact rovers off their friends' headquarters.
I ask for the support of all peaceful factions; when he took the Gaians we did not speak up; if you let him take me who will speak up when he comes for you?
Morgan Industries will fight to the last joule.
- C.E.O. Basil

As your soon-to-be new governor I must call on you to resolve your differences peacefully. It is the Peacekeepers' ideal that we can live together in peace despite our ideological differences.
