I voted for myself, and everyone else voted for you, so in my estimations the result would be 161-121 in your favour.

2239 to XWaste....it has come to pass that the Usurpers have seized the vast majority of Spartan bases. In an attempt to redress the balance, a Usurper base has been seized, and many more successes are expected to follow.

Chairman XWaste,
As you have no doubt suspected for some time now, you will get rather a rude awakening when you open your 2241 turn. For your information beforehand, three of your bases are now under University control, and two more will fall next turn. University technicians have also downloaded several of your research files.
The University would like to make it quite clear that nothing less than an unconditional surrender will be good enough for our forces. The ease with which we managed to penetrate your pitiful defences illustrates the fact that we will have no more trouble getting deeper into your empire.
Regards,
Provost Mark13

turn has been sent
the delay has been due to major computer troubles...sorry all...not because mark killed me :P ... though that was a 'nice' surprise to come to after I got everything fixed
though I have to say..this being my first multi so far where I have actually been attacked...it is a positive thing, it has pulled me out of the false secrity you get from too much one player...expect no mercy in my other games ....now I scramble to see what I can salvage from this one

I know what you mean - I remember the first PBEM in which I was attacked - I was actually surprised, even though it had clearly been on the cards about 10 turns previous

2242 to Mark13
Broadcast to all factions:
As Planetary Governor I am greatly disturbed at this breakout of hostilities, and I implore the warring factions to truce and sort out their differences through negotiations rather than thru vendetta.
As a pactmate of both, I am greatly disturbed at this unprovoked attack, and the Gaian citizenry are clamoring for answers - the principal question being - "are we to be next"
As a Defender of Planet I deplore the production and deployment of X-weapons by the University generals.
And as a faction leader I am perturbed at the shift in the balance of power that a successful University occupation of Hive bases would produce.
Accordingly:
I have positioned Gaian units in certain Hive bases, both as a deterrent to further University expansion and to aid in the defense of those bases if attacked
I have deployed Gaian forces to maximize the options available to our generals
The Gaian economy has been put on a provisional war footing.
Further, and most importantly:
The Gaian trade representative to the Hive Base "Manufacturing Warrens" is my own daughter, temporarily working with a terraforming crew to examine Hive advanced terraforming practices. That base is currently undefended except for this former crew awaiting reassignment, and is thus vulnerable to occupation. Any attempt by the University forces to capture this base by the destruction of this former crew will be treated as an Act of War against the Gaians and our response will be immediate.
End of broadcast
(and sorry for the reload - working with the laptop's sensor pad produces starnge jumpings and exitings - am going to buy a USB keyboard today 'cos this is just driving me crazy - played 15 gameturns last night after arriving in Winnipeg and must have inadvertently exited ten of them with this damned sensitive touchpad)
Googlie
