2154 to cbn.
____
Tomorrow morning I'm heading to Louisville for a week. It's unlikely that I'll be able to play any turns during that time, however I won't rule out the possibility completely, so let's keep circulating the turns. If I can get a few turns played, I will.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Walt

P.S. Oh, and Happy May Day!

Turn to knowhow2-- 2155 done and 2156 dawns on Planet.-- Great turn rate gang !!!
I would not want to host as I probably have the slowest computer (233 MMX) and only a regular phone connection. Walt could you host again?? It seemed to flow smoothly once I figured out how it worked.

Well, I could host it, given that I've got the best computer out of everyone. However, I'll need some step-by-step guidelines from Walt. In short, I've got the machine, but he's got the brains ...

Year 2156 to Walt. For some reason, although the e-mail was sent on Wednesday, I did not get it until tonight (late Friday).

Hi guys!
Greetings from sunny Louisville.
Been having a great time visiting my sweetie: glad you're not here.
In the rush to leave Cedar Rapids for the week, I left my SMAC/X discs at home. Haven't located replacements here, and I doubt I will. So it looks like it'll be Tuesday night before I pass the turn on. We are still good, however for the 12th. Looking forward to the game.
Tench, I'll be happy to give you pointers: there's nothing complicated involved: basically, just run winipcfg.exe before the session, get your IP address, and let everyone know what it is. You choose Host where you chose 'Join' previously. The rest is self-explanatory.
Enjoy the weekend, guys!
Ciao!
Walt

I've got Windows 2000. I can't find any application called "winipcfg.exe". Where is it?

All you need to do is click the start button and hit run and then type winipcfg and hit enter. At least that is how I did it yesterday when I learned how to find my ip address for the first time. I had no clue what the guy was talking about at first when he said to "use winipcfg".
On another note I am guessing that it is best that it be knowhow2's turn when we start direct connection. (I think that is what Walt indicated last time).

Just an addendum: with Windows 2000 it /might/ be ipcfg.exe, rather than winipcfg.exe. That's what it is in NT.

A thread we should all be interested in is current on the strategy board. It can be found here.
Pay special attention to my last two paragraphs in my post to the thread. I propose that when we finish, we attempt to resume with whoever's first in line. We should have that person play his turn and immediately report what he sees: what the mission year is and whether he could play it or if he just got a "Turn Complete" sound...
I'm testing this now with a 2-player game I'm in and of which I just completed a tcp/ip session.

Are you going to hold on to it until Saturday (forwarding it to Tench, I assume, since he's hosting)? Or shall we try to get one more set of turns in?
I'm at work now and can't play another turn again until tomorrow (Friday)morning, but perhaps that would still work...

Year 2158 to Walt.

Just to make sure, everyone is on Daylight Savings Time, right? Because if someone isn't, the time zone conversions could be messed up.

Tench, just in case you check this board rather than email, would you resend the turn. I just got the accompanying email without the attachment.
Thanks!

Walt Am I right in assuming that I should play last and forward it to knowhow2 as normal and also to tench. That is my plan when the turn gets to me. I understood that the turn should be with the first player in the turn order to avoid problems when we start direct connect.
Tench
I am on daylight savings time but I figure that we all know that it is at 1500 Apolyton time so we can all double check to ensure we are there on time. I look forward to it.
