Hi everyone,
just to keep you all updated.
I have arrived and succesfully installed SMAC. Problem is, I am still missing the SMAX-CD, which I am having sent here by regular mail currently.
It should be here by tomorrow, from which point on I will join the game again.
Sorry for the inconvenience...

Thanks for the update-- I was wondering if this game was off the rails.
Hopefully we will get the turns flowing fast again soon

turn sent to the provost...
Everything's running smoothly now. I may play a little slower than usual because I'm quite busy here, but no real slowdown anymore...

Glad to hear you are back in action. I should be sending the turn on by 1800 Apolyton time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Chancellor cbn of the University of Lookslike Drones considerd the stack of research reports before him. exploration reported that the strange pink fungus growth seemed to cover over half the land and a similar proportion of the sea. Strange beasts kept appearing out of it and attacking without notice. This was having a hugely detrimental effect on morale.
Communications branch reported that there were clear signs that there were 6 other factions on PLanet but contact was too sporadic to communicate anything other than the fact of the existence of some of these factions. Actual contact with other factions involved --- CENSORED BY THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY COMMISSION.
The chancellor was concerned about his people. As intellectuals thay seemed very unhappy at the prospect of manual labour. Fights had broken out when the philosophy department rejected the need for physical labour, claiming that their thoughts were their contribution. The dispute erupted when a nutritionist denied them rations with the statement that this should test whether "thinking about eating was as effective as you seem to believe thinking about shovelling and working to be".
In another area of the faculty, construction of a building was delayed for two days as a group of physicists debated the best theoretical structural form. Apparently the dispute was nearly settled until an engineer questioned the assumed values for gravity and the strength of the available materials. In all 18 differing papers on the issues were presented before the department head exclaimed " we are not building a spaceship and it does not have to be able to withstand 1000 tons of rock falling on it. I JUST WANT A ROOF !!!!

Just a question as to where the turn is-- I played 2130 yesterday and the next thing posted is Rastapopolous saying "turn sent"-- I'm figuring I just got in my turn notification before him and that 2130 is with Anunikoba but I just wanted to check since the other possibility is that the turn whipped around quickly and I should have 2131.

Real life will intrude sometimes. If you have an easy time getting a replacement it would be appreciated but generally I accept that we all have lives that mean sometimes we are away. enjoy the vacation and I hope you are going somewhere fun !

hi guys,
don't get a replacement because:
I have been kicked off this computer I've been using the past week. People here figure it's too slow and SMAC uses up the last resources. This means I won't play either till the 16th and so let's have a break until then.
And cbn: I like your approach..we all have real lifes and sometimes they interfere with gameplaying..

The chancellor cbn considered the empty square outside his office window. Usually the area was crowded with students moving from building to building. He knew from experience that the feeling of sadness during any break in the universities activities would pass when the students came teeming back to resume their studies on the 20th of May. He knew that his campus would be abuzz with activity shortly after that. It would be busy, hectic even, as he continued his efforts to have the university grow in a world where others might attempt to destroy it. While he knew he should just enjoy the break, he yearned for the hubub. The chancellor sighed as he contemplated getting back to the real work piled on his desk.

and no problems with the delay since, according to his post, commodore is not back from vacation until today anyway-- I think you had perfect timing.

Just to let you know that I will be out of town (leaving on the 24th and returning on the 26th)-- I should be able to play on both the 24th (very early) and the 26th (very late )so I do not propose to get a replacement . If I play on the 24th it might be that I do not hold things up at all.

Turn sent. Sorry for the delay, but I installed a new video card (Hercules 3d Prophet III, oh yeah baby!) and after I had to reinstall my O/S, I found out about the changes to the forum. Just took me a little time to get everything back in order.

Also, I don't know if this is due to my reinstall, but my faction 'face' has changed again- now I am the Prophet.

Turn to Fungi-Boy.
It's funny...and weird, looking at my bases. However, my units are human.
