UBB Codes: I need some help...
O.K. Here's what I know:
bold
italics
namk26@hotmail.com
civilization.gamestats.com/forums/
Is there more? How do I, for instance, do the 'click here' thing instead of pasting the url? Is that HTML?
Please help me learn this stuff so I can better organize things. It would be a big help...

Same here. I need to know all that. I already know what Yin knows, so skip that.
Yin: Do you know how to change the <font color="blue" size="+1" face="impact">color</font>, <font color="black" size="+3" face="impact">size</font>, and <font color="black" size="+1" face="mushu">shape</font> of text? It can help if you really want to grab attention.

That's what I figured.
Substituting parentheses for greater/lesser thans, it looks like this.
(a href="http://civilization.gamestats.com")Click here(/A)
GOT THAT?

Um... you have to use greater thans and less thans instead of (parenthesis).

If you use the 'Edit Message' button, you can see all the codes. That's a great feature...

Hang on... shouldn't we be using a different forum to talk about how to throw in HTML codes?

yin,
It's easy to <a href="http://www.hotwired.com/webmonkey/teachingtool/html.html">learn a bit of HTML from the webmonkey</a>.

I know. I meant I was substituting them for that message so everything wouldn't disappear. But, I know what to do now, since Yin announced that trick.
Thanks Yin!

Yeah, Yin. But you're the only one who can edit our messages!
Is there a way to change font and color with UBB only???

Ted,
That was my question, too. HTML is cumbersome in comparison to UBB. I've searched the Internet but only found those few things in UBB code I listed above.

To edit the font do <font type="(any font in c:windows/fonts)"> then type in the message (make the message touch brackets) </font>
There you go!
To do color, just do <font color=""> and then follow my directions up top.
to do size do <font size="+(any number from 1 to 7).
Here let me do some demostrations and then you click and try to edit my posts to see the typing in action.
<font size="+1">look at this</font>
<font type arial>and this...</font>
<font color="blue">lastly this</font>

Ignore the first part of my message...
Do do font do this... To edit the font do {font type="(any font in c:windows/fonts)"} then type in the message (replace those with regular brackets) {/font>}
to do color do {font color="any color"}
to do size do {font size="+ (don't forget the plus) any number from 1-7}
hope it helps.

Are we talking angle brackets: < >
Or Square brackets: []
I already know how to do fonts, colors, sizes with HTML (angle brackets).
I was wondering if the same kind of thing could be done with UBB codes. I just tried your examples with square brackets and it did not work.

Hah! No self-respecting web hacker should use the FONT tag.
See <a href="http://www.mcsr.olemiss.edu/~mudws/font.html">What's wrong with the FONT element?</a> and <a href="http://www.isoc.org:8080/web_ml/html/fontface.html"><FONT FACE> considered harmful</a>.
The right way is to use HTML to define the structure of your document, and use style sheet to define the appearance. Take it from me, don't build up a bad habit.

Is this HTML or UBB:
Hi.
Replace the brackets with greater/lesser signs, of course. Is it HTML or UBB?

That's HTML. A complete list of current UBB Codes are <a href="http://apolyton.net/forums/ubbcode.html">listed here</a>.
