CROSS-PLATFORMS (ver1.0): Hosted by monolith94
Hello, I am creating this thread to discuss the possibilities and probabilities of the upcoming game Civilization 3 bieng ported to the Macintosh operating system (jeesh, I sond like my teachers :O ). In anycase, I would like to begin the discussion with an opening remark.
*clears throught*
It is clear to most people that Apple is making a recovery. They have been selling more units, enticing companies to make more software for them, and have as a result been getting more games then they have previously. Soon Civilization: CTP will be out for Mac, and it is my hope that Sid and Brian remember how well Civ 2 sold on the MAC, verywell. Any other thoughts?

I think it's pretty safe to assume it will be Macified, eventually.

However, a question arises. Should they release both games simultaneously, even if this means that Windows users are forced to wait for a program that is already complete for their platform? Or should they release versions as finished, even though this will force Mac users to get the game much later?

Yeah! I would also like to see a Mac version. Probably one that comes out the same date the Windows version arrives.

I played Civ1 on the Mac (the graphics looked a whole lot better on the Mac) and it was fun from the first day on. Compared to the Windows version of Civ1, the Mac version looked so much better. I dont know if I would have played civ1 on a windows machine.

I would expect that their mac copy should come out maybe a month after the windows copy. Since they are programing it for windows this should be pretty realistic.

A Linux port, IMO is not out of the question. Let me just tell you, that two programmers working without Blizzards consent managed to convert Broodwars to Mac, in THREE days. I think if Firaxis looks ahead to the future it is obvious that they should start early porting it.

And you wonder why we didnt want this is a forum topic. What debate is there?

I think Firaxis already knows what format people want, so there is no point in discussing it.
